Something like this. It would take longer to load Office 07 given the specs of the laptop, but trust me, people like Office 03 because they are used to it. I used to be like one of them, but i'll never want to revert to Office 03 after i've seriously tried 07. Attached thumbnail(s)

I think Office 07 looks messy and 'fancy' because of its Ribbon interface. Instead of having a traditional menu, it reveals most of the functions under each tab, showing everything you need and do not need all under the same tab.
That said, Office 03 does not have less 'useless' features than 07, it's just that 07 shows them all together and allow users to get quicker access to them, instead of the conventional style, where you'll need to browse through 'Tools>Options>bla bla>bla bla' or 'Insert>Table>Row>....‘. Some may find this messy if what they want no more than resizing font and changing alignment. But for those who need more than that, Office 07 actually has a shorter learning curve and isn't as difficult as 03 to find out what Microsoft Word has to offer. For example, i wasn't aware that Word has the ability to insert reference automatically until i used 07. Imagine how helpful it is in helping me to do my assignment.

He's trying to support original software and why are you trying to recommend him to go the illegal way.
