Well, after seeing how good the picture looks on BD. I've stop buying DVD. But I do agree, I can't buy a lot cause of the price.

This is indeed an extremely poisonous thread. The worst I have ever experienced in my life! Since I took up blu-ray. in early Oct...no thanks to all the regulars here, I have amassed about 30 titles in the space of one month!

And I have at least another 10 on the way through the efforts of some bros here. But I'm enjoying every minute of it immensely. Now, I just have to convince my wife to see it that way as well.

LOTR: Theatrical Cut End of Next Year, Super Boxset Extended Edition During "The Hobbit" Release

Our good friend Bill Hunt is at it again, and today he has more information regarding the upcoming release of the 'Lord of the Rings' films. This bad news is that when Warner delivers the films sometime late next year, they will be of the theatrical versions of the films. The good news is that this decision was made because director Peter Jackson wants to save the extended versions for a super Blu-ray boxset to be released near the theatrical release of 'The Hobbit'.

With the original extended cut box sets being of the utmost quality, I have high hopes that Jackson will once again produce a magnificent Blu-ray box set for the extended cuts of the film. Until then (which will be about two years if 'The Hobbit' stays on schedule, enjoy the theatricals cuts on Blu-ray sometime next year.

Talking about $$$

Even tho picture is good, I only buy certain titles (selective ones, not all), especially the favorites or highly acclaimed movies.

I'm sure I'm like most here, already have hundreds of dvd collection, no point buying everything all over again. After all, not going to watch back all the movies, no time and no shiok.

I still have unopened BDs ... maybe sell them soon 'cos really no time to watch reruns.

Can't resist. Sold my Star Wars and LOTR long time ago, now I'm missed them already. With the current exchange rate, now is the best time.

Already bought the original trilogy last week. And I won't be buying the theatrical LOTR on blu anyway, so this will do for now. biggrin.gif
