Gaming is almost going to be a hobby like sports as well? lol... nowdays, ppl seem to be more into gaming then sports swt.
*
erm... dono can consider hobby or not. @.@ maybe it is ba la. but i wont say that. lol

QUOTE(icyfawkes @ Oct 11 2008, 06:45 PM)

lol donno la... but sports more healthy for health benefit la, whereas dota u just sit n play at there like that only.
*
ermm... this is very true. in fact dota all day will ruin ur health. that is the huge diff of Esport and sport.

QUOTE(Ern3st @ Oct 11 2008, 08:18 PM)
You're misunderstanding about what i said in the last post.I understand you said "There is nothing wrong that making hobby as career".But the message i want to deliver is we should consider our career maturely and don't suffer later because of wrong decision. I only took badminton as an example. For what making me thinks badminton is having better earning is because of win a Olympic champion can get 1 million.
*
ermm... u misunderstand me. i nvr misunderstand u.
in deed there is nothing wrong that making hobby as career, but whatever i said in my previous post doesnt trying to deliver the msg that "there is nothing wrong making hobby as career". what im trying to say is "there is nothing wrong making hobby as career if only u hav the capability".
ur msg i totally get it. "we should consider our career maturely and don suffer later". if u would refer back my post, i said some people just dont know how to think. they wont see things far like some of us. like chinese said "can pass 1 day, kira 1day lo". they are sort of such mentality. so thats why i said, pretty depends on individual to realise earlier or later on this matter. but whether earlier or later, they surely will realise it. at age 22-24 u still playing dota? seeing all ur friend earinig money? they surely will change.
badminton aint any better earning. reason pm said win a olympic champ can get 1 million is to push our althelic capabilities. is just like u in ur college last semester, ur dad say u get A for ur exam i buy u 1 ferrari. walao u tak pok meng meh? u tak pok meng, i pok meng lo. hahaha... sort of that. coz in the history, malaysia never ever get any medal in olympic. this is the strategy where pm try to boost our player morale. so this "get gold medal in olympic" actually doesnt only limited to badminton. any sport bring gold medal to msia will get 1mil. but of coz chong wei in deed dam power. he should hav a chance to fight for gold medal. but sadly he is too tired and not on form. but he still gain my respect.

QUOTE(ryder @ Oct 11 2008, 08:37 PM)
anything can be made into your career but what matters is that how long will it last...look at the TOP players in World Cyber Games(WCG) for example..there some of them who are paid to play and earn salaries like everybody else...and some of the players also have degrees like us in a certain field...and also in football david beckham for example...he has a degree in medicine...i doubt that all gamers are 'rich fellows with no brain'..because if they do not have brains..how are they gonna play the game...playing a game also need brains
*
ermm... what im saying about "rich fellow with no brain" not entirely say they are stupid. what i mean here is... hmm.. they are not matured enough to think like what Ern3st said, for their future. imagine someone play dota like mad. hard core, super hard core. play until age 27 still playing... not looking for any job. not good enuf to bring gamer life as career, just with normal skill always kena pwned. then always go cc main use dad/mom money go cc main main mian. ermm... that i would say... rich fellow with no brain. lol.. which rarely u will see. haha
but in my company there is 1 guy he just join my company about 7 months ago. when the moment he join, he is at 27 years old. and this is his 1st company in his life. doh.gif ask him what he did in previous year after graduate, he said he play games for 5 years. and yea, he really macam game dictionary. no joke. lol. doh.gif
but well, at least he move his 1st step. better than nothing.

I think that gaming do build up self esteem and makes someone feels good about himself after winning.
I was never a game lover neither will I be one. I am just not patient enough to play games.

Right now when I am typing this, my bf is playing dota with his friends.
Well, I never felt ashamed or happy when I say this to anyone.
I think that it is just guys' nature to be playing. Whether it is an outdoor or indoor game.
I only got annoyed once because he played for 6 hours straight. Things, no matter what should be done moderately. To me, 6 hours non stop is too much though it is only 6 rounds.

Haha, I am one of the girls that accompany her bf to the cc and watch him play.
I watch him play and try to understand what is he playing.
But it takes time to understand.
As a person with no patience, I always fell asleep in the cc. LOL!
I observe my bf when he plays. He looks very serious in everygame.
What draws my attention is the right wrist where you guys click on the mouse. I find that will hurt the wrist a lot. Not the hurt where you feel pain immediately, is the after effect hidden inside when you grow old. Will it hurt that way?

yeah...even ppl like us working in the office will face this prob...like what core said, either you design your desk to a certain height comfartable for your posture or you gotta hold the mouse properly...but the posture to hold the mouse properly you gotta get used to it...hard to do that actually, imagine tryin to pawn enemy and thinking bout body postures at the same time laugh.gif

gives u the feel u cant get in real life.

if u know what that feel is, it is Attention, victory, sucess, etc.( not applied for everything)
it gives u the feel to be a hero, and at the first time in their life, win somebody.

puts forth that the addiction to computer games can be caused by psychological problems such as antisocial personality disorder, depression, and phobias such as social phobia. He believes that many addicts want a way to escape reality and then find that they can create a whole new persona on an online game and live their life through their new online personality

Through this they can start to like fantasy life more than reality due to newfound friends and power, and thus, refuse to be drawn away from it.
(from wiki)
newspaper article or reader digest why majority of gamers addicted to on9 game cause it gives them a sense of feeling of somebody knowing ur existance. it gives u the feel that u exist in life. teenage is the phrase where attention>everything. u want attention no matter what.

those lenglui all already got so much attention until they dont need other thing. but some ppl who are ignored in society, because they arent good enough for society, need to resort to on9 games to give them a feeling of sucess. maybe is a kid who cant win in sport, who suck in studies, and cant talk to girls, he will resort to on9 games like maplestory of etc for the attention.

Well, before flaming me, im not applying this to everybody. if u open ur eyes wide enough, u will understand.

why can't it be a girl's thing as well? i like dota, eventhough i suck at it. LEARN LA GIRLS, don't portray yourself as only with girlie personalities with no skills.

Girls can game too. I suppose.

i quited dota 2 years ago lol. i played becos after working hours everyone in company connect to each pc to dota.

after leaving that company i quited as well. mostly the reason i playing game is becos of multiplayer game since i can play with my friend.

game is something created so you won`t be bored when you have extra time. not worth attracted to a stage where you playing it non stop.
