what u mean by stand heavy stress test???

i believe any decent processor will do.. with decent cooling system, but u should look at the platform as the whole not onli cpu

even with heavy app simulations.. it will just take longer time to complete

i dun think it will be a computer... it must be some specialized platform for apps

it should be something like this...if money not an issue.. and of coz.. first the software got to support such hardware..

Intel Skulltrail platform...

but juz the 2 CPU will set u back for USD$3k...

might as well tell ur friend to wait for Core i7... 8 threads and tri channel memory sounds good for him...

Ask him about his BUDGET.... How much is he willing to spend? Dual socket Quad systems are very expensive... Just look at the Mac Pro and Intel Skulltrail!! hmm.gif

I think 6K is enough to build a custom dual socket quad core machine (for total of 8 cores). wink.gif

Example: http://www1.ap.dell.com/content/products/p...5400&l=en&s=bsd (is around 7K depending on configuration) rolleyes.gif
