IMHO, O/Cing depends on owners la...

when younger...wanna do this faster, that faster....and when out of budget...kasi O/C kau kau... biggrin.gif

when become older...we tend to take things slower abit....and think all the pros and cons....budget wise, reliability wise, purpose wise...etc etc

similar la...like when younger all wanna go clubbing, pubbing, etc etc....now...just have a beer and relax...as much as possible....before the kids come climbing all over you.... biggrin.gif (speaking frm experience la.....)

ya i think like that too... cause my wife connect vacuum cleaner to it that why it start smoking once she start vacuum.
*
ayoyoyo....boss...vacuum cleaners, irons, kettles, fridges, aircons....etc etc...better not connect together with sensitive equipment such as computers, modems...etc

as those devices generate spikes when their heaters/motors kick in...

even with ur AVR....it'll be too much to handle...

I have 3.06 Northwood, and my housemate has 3.0 Prescott.
I mainly hardcore game and u all knw that prescott runs hot...we all know that.
would I see any real difference if I used the Northwood instead ?The only difference is the cache......
I wanna stick the Northwood in to lower my temps...
FYI,prescott has a larger cache, but it also has a deeper execution pipeline...
Prescotts pipeline has 31 stages while Northwood's has got 20 only. A 31 stage pipeline can be very difficult to stoke...
even with a large cache...
Prescott may have double the L2 cache,, but keep in mind that the length of the pipelines is long on the prescott, which mean it takes longer to perform the same instructions as northwood...
also, a northwood at the same clock speed is faster than a prescott because it wolud be harder for the prescott to keep those pipelines full...
so prescott should have the extra cache in order to keep those pipelines busy. smile.gif
At 3.0/512/800 and 3.0/1M/800, the northwood will come out on top in nearly all cases... smile.gif
*
for stock, sure la northy is better....until the prescott's get o/ced...of course, the prescott needs some super cooling....that's where the pressie overtakes the northy....in the o/c range....

Yea. Agreed with ur statement. Clock to clock without OC, Northwood is leading. But in OC preference, Prescott is shine when it hit high FSB, and it can clock better/further. Northwood is build with 130nm chip where i believe that is the part that limiting the OC ability.
*
yup...fylon's right....the pressie thrives on o/c....but conventional cooling is the problem here...
