From many of the threads, we have seen that many do want to find a decent HTIB (not to the extend of full set home theater) with budge, value, specs, features and most value for money considerations.

Over these few months, i have researched throughout the net and also AVS forums to find one that i would buy before the end of this year. For forumer's benefit and also hoping to get 2 cents from forumer's as well, i have started up this thread

I would post first 3 entry HTIB in comparison. These 3 are the most budgeted sets which gain high ratings from anywhere else and LG's won the home theater of the year. Each has its pro and cons and therefore hopefully based on the input by forumer's here, we can get a all-rounder in getting the best balanced choice.

Also if there are any extra price info or where can get cheaper, we would appreciate if this info could benefit all as well

QUOTE(rx330 @ Oct 2 2008, 10:36 PM)
get the sony htf 2300 for 1999
and pay another 399 for NS 708 h dvd player
shud beat anyone of the above, and its even future proof, accepts MPCM as well
*
I hardly see any review for this model, already in sony.com.my listed out this model at suggested price
most of the sound feature are comparable to the few sets placed above, but i saw few additional 'features' from this toy that actually caught my eyes

A) it's blu-ray player ready - the above models are all with DVD and although they should be able to change with bluray player in future, but this is readily plug in with a blu ray player, which in another words, futureproof (also with dts-ES supported)

B) M.P.C.M (Multi Channel Linear PCM Digital-In) which is sort of new hearing for me

C) 1000W (RMS) power output, 143W x 5 plus 285W subwoofer, 3 ohms [SIZE=5]
it does mean POWERFUL!!! usual 1000W are with 6ohm or 8 ohm with in the real sense, they are not 1000W in real, but is this for real??

I can't find any decent review on this one, whether because it's just come out....
but any more word can add up comment to this?

Added on October 3, 2008, 9:25 ami posted a summary from the review of the BEST HDMI PLAYER thread, and it seems that Philips won a bit over the USB feature, still collecting views, but one thing is, will the compatible issue happen if link up with the HTF2300

QUOTE
Pioneer DV610 - RM650 USB,    1080P, Coaxial, HDMI, Optical, Plays SACD/DVDA

Sony 708      - RM328 no USB, 1080P, Coaxial, HDMI, Plays SACD/DVDA? deinterlacer not as good,

Phillips 5996 - RM330 USB,    1080P, Coaxial, HDMI, Plays SACD/DVDA?

Will it have definite advantage if i combine HTF2300 + NS708 compare to HTF2300 + Philips 5998?
Because Philips 5998 won over the USB thingy, which can play DIVX from USB drive..wink.gif

Though I think NS708 won slightly over with the DVDA supported? correct me if i'm wrong
Both plays any DVD though, after i checking out another HDMI player threads...they both got pretty good comments

Check my one year old Panny PT550 HT, the RMS output power is
Front ch 125W per channel (3 ohm)
Surround ch 125W per channel (3 ohm)
Center ch 250W (6 ohm)
Subwoofer ch 250W (6 ohm)
Total RMS Dolby Digital mode = 1000W

Is it good?
*
From my checking last time, it's not as listed 3 ohm and 6 ohm
as i know it's not actual RMS 1000W
Most of the hifi system and home theater manipulate this info to let you look powerful.
And thus i was surprise of Sony htf 2300 where the ohm impedance is 3ohm..
anyway i will find out myself whether is it that superior

i dunno how the philips looks, but personally, i like the look of the 708h, having previously fiddle with the 1st gen NS76h, and i rekomen 2 frens to buy it, and they were happy with it
*
he he i'm no brand person ....i go with what's best...from the specs and also reviews of actual units

i know i won't go wrong, but only one thing miss out, for 708H which is the USB, as i need it to watch downloaded movies

DV610 of Pioneer, double price, other than all the discs can be watch, not picky, can watch even MPEG4 and DivX which is most convenient to my situation...what's more, support SACD and DVDA, and so far i gather that 708H is not DVDA compatible..correct me if i'm wrong.wink.gif

hi all,

i m newbie here  icon_question.gif  ..... saw t LGHT 762 HTIB and was quoted 1480. Is it worth buying and is anyone currently using it ? Love t design bt doubt the upscaling feature... how is the sound?

Advice highly appreciated.  smile.gif
*
LG HT762 already no double is one of the top listed HTIB, but not yet the best, and seen review that the downside is its PQ just so so. I mean upscailing. Soundwise, even the entry level can already amaze you for what you are paying for...

For me, i always go for the best balanced choice, means i set a budget and within that budget i go for the best value for money one. I set my top priority on what am i looking for, tolerate for some downside which is tolerable and keep searching for the review and the actual unit sound. For this one, you need to test it up finally. Only before this, search within few on hand final selections and then go to test it out....hard to earn customer money nowadays, hoh? sweat.gif

my bad, shudnt use the word even though , IF is the right word

Comments are welcome... biggrin.gif

I always go for the best balanced choice, the budget of RM2500 is set,
thus HT-SF2300 + DV6100 = RM1600 + RM600 = RM2200 plus a decent S Video or HDMI cable, still within the budget..hehe

so hope there are second opinion to overcome this though

any same range price Home theater In Box or Home Theater Component that can beat this combination?

the input is really powderful for tat 2300, so many
bmipp, how u  get 1.6k for tat set?
*
I saw one thread of a forumer gets RM1700 quote for that set, and then he push limit to RM1600 to buy from the taukeh.
Anyway RM1600 is really not impossible though, taking that the official suggested price is RM1999, as you know from the official suggested price, it's often few hundreds cheaper if you get from certain AV Shop..... Panasonic PV80H is one of the sample, Official now is RM4699, but market price is RM3799(in Penang)

The major problem with HTIB sets is their speakers, which, in my opinion are too toyish/plastic-ish....(speaking from experience). With most HTIB, the connections are proprietary, and you cannot use any other speakers/cables.
*
True, thus one forumer 'hit' me up from this let me opt for the HOME THEATER COMPONENT + GOOD HDMI DVD PLAYER

what's more HT-SF2300 is BLURAY READY, and made for this component

Anyone knows which Sony Home Theater Shop that sell HT-SF2300 and also Pioneer DV610...cause i guess that only when buying few things together, they might give more discount. Sony HT-SF2300 price is quite 'steel' as i think due to the SONY BOOKLET present the price..asked one shop in Penang here, and the price given was RM1999

I suggest you audition the HT-SF2300 first..... I remember in a previous post someone who auditioned it was not too impressed.
Sure it can process HD audio, but can you tell the difference with those typical HTIB speakers?
*
I think the attraction was that it's component with Bluray Player ready made for..
also if buying the normal HTIB, one will get trouble if would like to change or upgrade player to bluray, as for the HTIB normally the receiver, player, and speakers line link up to the proprietorship design... sweat.gif

By the way, maybe the question is for RM1799 or RM1999, could we get better HT Component set which can beat this one in sound wise and also features wise?

Really hope someone sifus out there do know...

Previously i also busy at comparing among HTIB, but finally think for Home Theater component (below RM2000) as it can be upgraded

only now wish to know if there are better home theater component set plus DVD which can beat the quality for combination of SONY HT-SF 2300 and PIONEER DV610.

They are good, of course..SC-PT865

Only i have seen some comment about the unstableness of wireless. It's in fact a good price. Previous i saw at RM 2599, however, again, the problem is still with the bundleness of the whole set, which you will find impossible to upgrade...

There are few good one though in comparison with this model, but lower price...

the 2300 by sony doesnt comes with a dvd player, hence the need of buying another player
*
Yah, it is built for Blu Ray player, meant to stay together..so it can be considered as future proof, with player upgrade availability should you be changing to Blu ray player in times to come..so i can say, it's value for its money.

Only am now try to see if there is any set within this price range can beat it on the price and also features wise...

Hi how much was offered for LG-HT953TV
If your definite decision is to stay with the hifi for once and for all, go for this,

This model just won what-hifi best HTIB of the year for its category

Any review to support that?

Also for the RMS how many OHM and the %THD is also important

HTSF for 10%THD which i think is quite high, should be around 1 or 2% for normal decent hi-fi system, and less than 1% for those VERY DECENT one wink.gif

RM2300. The price is really ok. ONly that when thinking about any upgrade, it will be a big headache, as the DVD player is attached with the speaker and inter-related. That's why HT COMPONENT SYSTEM become my consideration

True too on the problem should the player or the amp spoilt ..... both will be out of order. But a reasonable component system will set u up to at least double the price. Someone recommend me the Onkyo 606 amp.... what speakers is best fitted with it if i wan a nice system for both home theater and music  icon_question.gif

That's why it hit me for a consideration of the HT-SF 2300, however, from the net, hardly can see any decent review or proper review for this model. Wonder if it's too new, too few people own it, or too less people asking about it. But then, i wonder how come there are forumers in this audiophile recommend this, when not so many people heard about it? sweat.gif

Thanks anyway.

Heard from other thread that the quality isn't as good as it was reviewed. Any person seconded that? or oppose to that.

Appreciate 2 cents from anyone heard its sound or quality before...

who actually have the unit to do a honest saying.
