Yah, it is built for Blu Ray player, meant to stay together..so it can be considered as future proof, with player upgrade availability should you be changing to Blu ray player in times to come..so i can say, it's value for its money.

Only am now try to see if there is any set within this price range can beat it on the price and also features wise...

Not really for all BD player. Only players with all HD audio decoded onboard like the PS3, Panasonic DMP-BD50/55 and Sony BDP-S550 and few others can be coupled with the STF-2300.

Players like Panasonic DMP-BD30 and Sony BDP-S350 you won't get to hear DTS-HD MA with it. nod.gif

Heh heh, if you're hung up on bass, Pioneer's HTZ777 with two downfiring subwoofers for RM1,999 should give you a kick (more like a THOOM). And fits within your budget (and you get a backup 1080p HDMI player). smile.gif

Does it have at least digital coaxial/optical? Then should be OK.

PS3 decodes all the HD audio codecs internally, and sends out as high bitrate multichannel PCM signal via HDMI. So, to hear lossless/HD audio from PS3, the home theater must have the capability to accept multichannel PCM via HDMI only.

If you use optical connection, the DTS-HD MA/Dolby TrueHD will be downgraded to normal DTS/Dolby Digital only, and it gets worst if the movie only provide uncompressed multichannel PCM tracks where it will be downmixed to stereo. So, you can still hear the audio, but just normal audio like you hear on DVD, you won't get to experience the lossless/HD audio on blu-ray.

Don't know about other models, you guys must check the specs sheet first. But I can confirm that the Sony HT-SF2300 does accept mutichannel PCM via HDMI, and no, it's not wireless (I think must buy some sort of adapter to make it wireless). But this model only suitable with PS3 and other internal decoding standalone BD players only.
