QUOTE(yeahh @ Mar 9 2010, 09:43 PM)
hi all sifus im currently using rsl heat 968 at the moment ... and was hoping to get some guidance here .. im not sure about the current string or tension using now actually ...

my drop shots and net play seems alrite to me... able to control properly ...

but i seem to lack the extra 'oomp' to hit back or smash ... any chance the string and/or tension can supplement this lack of power?

recommendations welcome smile.gif
*
wa..very hard to answer you leh lidet
normally, for extra power, player would go for yonex BG66 or any thinner strings (ashaway zymax 62)
some say 24lbs is best for smashing..BUT it really is an extremely personal thing

if you have a strong wrist and arm, you can go for higher tension like 25/26
i would say try zymax 62 at 23lbs first

personally, i think zymax is a good string and it's cheaper than BG66

note: zymax62 is 0.62mm while BG66 is 0.66mm

p/s: skill is more important than equipment so train up tongue.gif

just my humble opinion

Eyh I thought I mentioned 3UG4 ! Its player version of AT700.

Hehe, sending you pm now bro thlim78.

ziggy87 hows your current weapon so far ? I think my current one serving me really good. Btw its Panda Power Ultra II with BG66 25lbs, very fast, stiff racket. My smashes are powerful with AT700 but kinda slow in maneuverability.
*
haven tested thoroughly
used once oni laugh.gif
therefore haven been able to get the sweetspot yet
and my hand pain..so cant smash that hard oso

oh Dinkie's brand eh..nice~~~
i will love to try T2 though laugh.gif

hi all, my Yonex Armortec 150 broke jz now when i tried to smash

1) may i know what is the current price for it if i were to look for the same racquet again?

2) or is there any other similar racquets (with almost the same features) worth getting?

3) finally, should i replace with other similar racquet or buy back a new armotec 150?

thanks in advance
*
if you're comfortable with it and not itchy to get a new model, then just buy back the same model
price wise..can't help blush.gif

hii...

currently i'm using carbonex 7000 DF with string BG6 (26lbs)...
but its not good for hard smash...look like i need higher tension...
i need ur opinion what string should i use n tension should i go...
TQ happy.gif
*
higher tension does not mean more power sweat.gif
if you're a hard hitter, higher tension does generate more power
but if you're not, you gonna suffer even more

try ashaway zymax 62 at 25lbs
or BG66 at same tension

what's the difference bro...can share.
currently I'm using BG66 with 25lbs...but easily loosen after 2-3 month. hmm.gif
*
u mean difference between BG66 and ZM62?

ZM62 is obviously thinner which logically provides more repulsion
i think it will provide more power but easier to break compared to BG66
Zymax strings are cheaper too

1) Where can I buy 2ndhand racket?

2) I used to have APACS racket, used for less than 3 months, then it broke by itself when i was trying to return a smash...
I sent back the shop for warranty.. and have been waiting for more than 3 months, finally they called me yesterday, report already came out, "due to impact.." but they offer me 70% to get new 1.... I cannot accept this because all my friends witness that... Then they told me will investigate, If they reject to change me a new racket FOC, where can i complain?

3) for Yonex racket, is there any different between Yonex made from Japan, Taiwan & China? How to know it is original 1?
*
1. you can always monitor the forum

2. i heard a seller said before that claiming warranty in MALAYSIA normally fails. it's the opposite with the situation in europe/usa/canada etc where the chances of successful warranty seems to be higher. i dont know why and this is PURELY my OWN observation and reading. no statistics involved.
p/s: sometimes, the frame broken when FIRST time stringing also warranty fail. doh.gif

3. Some say JP coded YY's are better in material. I don't own a YY so I don't know. authenticity wise..google on the way to read the codes. they have meaning.

4. before considering such expensive YY's, do look at other reliable-but-not-so-overrated brands like RSL, Gosen, Prince, Victor etc
(victor might be overrated too but my almost 10yrs old victor still going strong yo~ laugh.gif although it's my backup's backup haha)

So far my APACS racket is okey, bcz i do a very low stringing, it wont tight very strong. Can i know what is the racket model you use and the tension you string? because somehow is not the racket material problem, is the APACS racket not on par with the spec they have mentioned, so need to be careful everytime before stringing, get swing and see how's the feeling and just decide how much string tension to go.
*
my apacs is ok too
i string at 26 @ Bg66 on Nano 900 Power Red

i'm not defaming apacs here but a lot of their rackets are off spec
even mine feel lighter than the normal N900P
lighter = less material? = easier to break? i abit sked actually hahaha

I took my racket to check the weight, and it is actually quite "on track", im using stern 300 and the specification is written 84-86 and when i checked, it shows 92g in digital, so it meant about +6 - +8 on the string may be. But i feel always not on SPEC is my another racket Saber 10, when i hold on Yonex ArcSaber 10, it is head heavy version but for APACS saber 10, it is head balance version, and the weight i dont really few the difference bcz i used to it already.

but APACS already have many rackets return false, may be the QC is not that good for the manufacture.
*
although ES is the clone for AS, they certainly dun play the same

the string only add around 3g if im not mistaken
u forgot to mention the grip
if you're using original grip, then for sure heavier than what the spec stated tongue.gif

Yeah, true also, i have a thick karakal groove II grip and the original overgrip there.
*
that adds the overall weight of the racket and reduces the head heaviness by a bit
so it's normal for you to feel that tongue.gif

You bought a high end racket and the question is "is it a good racket", define "good". How much u got it for ? Regarding string, what kind of string u used on ur previous racket ? How did it feel ?

My PP Ultra II sudah loses tension, I very tension when play with it hahaha. Im personally a fan of BG66, but seems like the Zymax gets good review. Bg80 on my AT700 still holds strong (but he rarely gets to play tho), just now used it for singles. Zymax 62 @ 27lbs on PP Ultra IIhmm.gif

Damn exhausted, workout on monday, rest on tuesday, wednesday 3 hours badminton, thursday 3 hours badminton, friday running, saturday 3 hours badminton, I need a break hahaha. Speaking of which quite some times didnt play basketball or other sports, addicted to badminton altho skills very lousy  blush.gif

it sounds authentic but the serial displayed mentioned otherwise. hmm.gif
if the racket is indeed intro-ed in Q1 2009, then maybe your friend got to know the insider very well and got an early edition? since the serial indicates that it was produced end of 2008 tongue.gif
is that possible? if it's not, just treat it like a ridiculous assumption rolleyes.gif

QUOTE(Aeon_Clock @ Mar 26 2010, 10:07 AM)
guys, I'll be getting some rackets with my friends quite soon. But need to ask some details about the rackets and strings.

1) Some rackets are medium flex and others are stiff...what's the difference?
2) Can someone tell me the difference between head heavy - slight head heavy - even balance?
3) Rackets have limited tension xxlbs...higher tension means more powerful smashes?
*
i'll try to explain (based on my own reading and understanding)

1. flexible shaft are for slightly slower swingers. if you're a slow swinger, u will generate more power with a flexible shaft. stiff for fast swingers. of course, generation of power also depends on strings and tension.

2. if u feel your shot is lack of power, u can get a head heavy racket. you can feel whether it's head heavy/head light/even balance when you hold and swing it. headlight rackets are generally used for defensive purposes as it's easier to maneuver and faster response. balanced rackets are a little bit of both world..generating less power than pure head heavy rackets but faster than them. slower than headlight rackets but generate more power.

3. no and yes. if u're a hard hitter and fast swinger and use more wrist, higher tension will generate more power. if u don't hit so hard, a higher tension will not generate enuf power. this is explained as the trampoline effect. imagine urself jumping on a bed and normal floor. of course u can jump higher when u jump on bed. besides that, people say that higher tension provides better control. i don't know the theory behind that.

however, i've also been thinking if i'm a hard hitter and my tension is not very high, won't i be generating more power due to trampoline effect? the only explanation i can think of is, trampoline effect makes the shuttle stay longer on the string bed thus delaying the time the shuttle reflect. any pro can confirm/answer this? (sry aeon for post-hijacking tongue.gif )

oh ya aeon, by higher tension, i dun mean 30lbs or so..lower tension doesn't mean 20lbs or so
just higher/lower than the normal tension u can handle smile.gif
