i'm using MSI mobo. last nite i try to update my bios through MSI live update. just follow instruction listed, i try to flash the bios using windows dialog box.i dont hav floppy disk actually. it was not a successfully install cause an error occured. b4 that, i already backup old bios. then i restart my pc and beep sound come out, and pc just blank. what happend to my pc? is it damaged cause of bios fault? any solution for this? my friend said that if bios is broken then it consider as mobo is broken too. is it true? what about other hardwares such as ram and hdd and processor?

may be the ram is the problem. change ur ram temporarily and see.

well, u can 1st try pinpointing which part causes the problem. here's some suggestions...

1) clear CMOS, either by pulling out the battery for a while or clearing thru the jumper.
2) reinsert back ur RAMs
3) reinsert back ur GC
4) try ur hdd on a diff comp but i doubt it's the cause as u said earlier ur mobo had the beep sound

ram type is ddr2 kingston 512mb kvr533d2n. any other solution? i dont have any of ddr2 ram now. can it be ram fault? the beep sound twice...the first one longer than the second one..no more sound after that,pc keep running n still blank.

well, have u tried out the clear CMOS step 1st? then try ur RAMs

i already try pin the cmos jumper and pull out the battery and plud in back. but same things happened. it dont changed anything.

do u still have the manual for the mobo?

IINM there's a guide on what the beep sound means, it's kinda hard too to tell if ur mobo is the real problem or ur RAM's...

how many sticks of RAM did u use? if more than 1, y dun try 1 at a time...

only using 1 slot. i'll check for the manual. if it is the mobo..then can it be fix? i try to update the bios actually. but unsuccessful. then prob to pc. why ha? can the bios restore to old?

iinm, if the bios is corrupted so do the mobo too...

and i'm not rly sure if the bios can be restored back, or mbe i'm wrong. i hope other forumers can clear this out

Some brand of motherboard like Asus and Gigabyte came with 3 years warranty.

Try to check with the shop where you bought the motherboard from. They might able to help you.

no prob, but as Webwalker said, u better go back to the shop where u buy it n ask for a warranty...

next time if you flash unsucessful, you must revert back to old BIOS before restart PC.

sound like the mobo bios is edy corrupted . all ur hardware is still ok dont worry. i hv this experince b4.

the only thing can help u is to hotflash the bios.
