if RM1k for car chassis, recon it and get performance parts onto it... maybe RM15k enough to mod as sport car... tongue.gif

that pricing should look ok... but 1.3 carb's FC should higher than modern 1.3 engine's FC lo...
but at least the car spare part u can get it easily and cheap as well... should say easy to maintain lo...
about car condition, maybe u check with the owner how he service that car and what parts he changed last few year...

I dont know about the FC of Iswara.
But what I can say is my Nissan Sunny does 21sens (RM 2.40/L) and worst was 23sens/KM (RM 2.70/L)
or average FC of 12KM/L in 100% city driving.

Back to our topic,
I noticed that many 4G13/4G15 engines from Iswara/Wira starts blowing blue smoke at 200,000KM onwards.Seems the engine is quite fragile.
Therefore, TS, beware.

If it's FC high problem,from what I heard is due to worn carb,cause it's a SU-type carb.

BTW, TS, why Iswara? Add abit more, and you could consider the Wira 1.3GLI fuel-injection version. But thats entirely up to your budget.

if the TS wanna a family car, wira sedan suit it much... I'm owner of a iswara and my FC is much more better that my friend 1.3 EFI wira and also satria. I pump RM80 and roughly I can go around 390km with average speed 120-130kmh.

About 200,000km only start blowing blue smoke, I think is ok edi.. Is time to overhaul.. Or, expect that the car engine should now blowing blue smoke although at 200,000km? All is depend on the engine condition and the driver.. My uncle still keeping a 1988 saga which belong to my pass grandfather which using 8valve orion engine. The car now still in good condition and I used to see my uncle drive it to johor instead driving is camry 2.2 due for the FC..

To ts, if wanna a family car, just forget about iswara.. Get Wira sedan 1.5. More spacious and more good that iswara.. Wira sedan 2000 I think now market price around RM13-15k. Get it and touch up abit or even transplant into 1.6 mivec, you already have a good family car... Hehe.

It's the 2nd most popular ride in Malaysia after PROTON, if it wasn't for either Tan Chong or Malaysian govt. killed it around 1995, shouldn't be hard to find.

Hi TS,

I'm driving an Iswara Aeroback year 2000 1.3 manual. Regarding your question about fuel consumption, it gives me about 260km for 25 liter of fuel, 100% town driving in PJ. Of course it is nothing great. But considering this is an 8-year old car with an engine developed using the 80's technology, I think it is fairly good.

My car currently clock at 300 000+ km, never undergone an engine overhaul and there is no major problem at all. But that is also because my dad has been taking good care of the car.

I am thinking of changing the car though. Second hand car dealers are only taking it at around RM 7k - RM 9k. Looks like i'll need to find a buyer myself to get a better deal wink.gif
