QUOTE(rx330 @ Oct 1 2008, 11:25 AM) Currently pushing mobileme, gmail and yahoo into the iphone. So what do you need to do to get your email? What's the delay time? Do you have to check instead of getting it pushed to you like SMS? Can you still get email without touching your phone?Any of u guys have any idea how to push hotmail or tmnet email into iphone? with the iphone who needs a blackberry With the blackberry, I don't have to do anything. I just look for the red blinking light. Got light, got email. No light, no email. And I don't even have to touch the phone. Don't even need to take the phone out of sleep mode. Don't even need to take the phone out of the case. Also, don't mix up autofetching email with push email. They are both different. With the iphone, you fetch your email. With the blackberry, you get the email pushed to the phone. This post has been edited by sleepwalker: Oct 1 2008, 11:39 AM |

QUOTE(rx330 @ Oct 1 2008, 11:38 AM) You are autofetching, not pushing. I get my gmail within 2 seconds of receiving it on the Gmail server, faster than SMS. Can the iphone beat that? The iphone is fancy in every way but still has a long way to go to become a messenging powerhouse. I'm also checking all my imap and pop accounts, including my tmnet and streamyx accounts. Every phone has it's good and bad side. iPhone is fancy, blackberry is good too. You have your choice to choose which phone to use. I prefer iPhone and i don't like how blackberry works. If you dislike iPhone, simply don't acquire one as you have mentioned, it's not a messenging powerhouse. Apple still has a long way to go and they are making better progress. Greater things to come for sure. But blackberry, any news? But i'm sure that Appstore applications kicks the hell out of blackberry for sure..muaahahhahahahha.. QUOTE(davidgary73 @ Oct 1 2008, 11:57 AM) @sleepwalker I believe we are not in a discussion about which is the better phone. I'm mearly replying to the TS statement of "with the iphone who needs a blackberry" towards receiving emails. That gives me the impression that the TS does not fully comprehend what the blackberry can do with messenging. But blackberry, i hear nothing. But i'm sure that Appstore applications kicks the hell out of blackberry for sure..muaahahhahahahha.. I'm not here to belittle the iphone. I guess, you together with the rest of the iphone users, will not hear anything else once you have your iphone. There's plenty of great things from blackberry if you are listening. Anyway, for those of us using the blackberry, we don't have much time to do anything else on the phone. The phone is a source of income and we lose money and business deals if we are doing anything else on the phone. This post has been edited by sleepwalker: Oct 1 2008, 12:05 PM |

i have used the blackberry pearl for over a year and the iphone coming close to a year now.
i must say, with the exception of the pushmail services (which costs a premium to maintain here as opposed to other countries), iphones will definitely surpass blackberries in every aspect feasible. This post has been edited by nokia2003: Oct 1 2008, 12:14 PM |

Very cool then. I'm sure we iPhone users would like to hear how blackberry works. Do enlighten us more on how you guys use the blackberry. We are all learning and always learning.
I find this weird: ''The phone is a source of income and we lose money and business deals if we are doing anything else on the phone.'' All phones can be a source of income and by doing other things with the phone, you lose money??? I have not heard that before mate. Why so? I do get loads of work done with the iPhone and money still happily coming in. |

That is missing half the features of the blackberry. We are still talking about pushmail here aren't we? The Blackberry Bold has just arrived here on our shores, OFFICIALLY and not underwater/smuggled... (that's something iphones will not surpass). The blackberry isn't made for fancy multimedia but it is still hard to comprehend that the iphone will beat the Bold in every aspect feasible. i must say, with the exception of the pushmail services (which costs a premium to maintain here as opposed to other countries), iphones will definitely surpass blackberries in every aspect feasible. Does a company CEO who works 12-16 hours a day, have the time to watch video on his tiny phone while his wall size plasma TV awaits him at home? Why his driver is driving him back from work at night, the day has not ended yet as we are still replying emails and doing deals with the other side of the world that has just woken up to another brand new day.I find this weird: ''The phone is a source of income and we lose money and business deals if we are doing anything else on the phone.'' Dun come and take BB most advance feature to compare here. Wat if we iphone user go BB thread to compare touch screen, UI, apps sdk tools, multimedia etc , do u think it is fair to compare those feature that iphone good at with BB phone? Geeez......
Am using iPhone reply here. And I surprise my kampung (Mentakab Pahang) got at least EDGE with decent line speed. Celcom really not that bad:p |

Yes,that is what blackberry service offer.
I configure my iphone to fetch my yahoo mail hourly instead of push mail although I have data unlimited plan.Reason being is Push mail require always on Data connection, this shorten the battery usage time QUOTE(sleepwalker @ Oct 1 2008, 11:47 AM) With the blackberry, you don't need to rely on the email server. Personally i am pushing my MobileMe email to my iPhone. As for work, I am pushing my corporate Exchange email to my iPhone as well.
One major differences between BB and iPhone push email is BB actually fetches the email from your configured email account (Exchange email, Streamyx email etc) and pushes to your BB. Meaning if the BB service fails, so does the push emails even though your email service provider is alive and running. Another thing which worrys me is BB server was located at Canada hosted by RIM (maybe Asia might have its own BB relay server) and since all emails go through RIM, what about privacy?? I am a happy iPhone push email user and at the same time I am supporting some BB users i my company as well. So i would says it all depends on your preference, if you are into those corporate thingy, then get yourself a BB. If you live a balanced life between work and play, then iPhone is the choice. |

What's the different between a 2-3 secs mail push and a 4-5 secs?
Are we really in such a hurry that just because of that few seconds faster we need to argue about it? Hey i am happy with any phone that can check my mail anywhere anytime within 10 secs .. |

if im a CEO of a company, i wouldnt wanna stare at my phone and wait for my emails 24/7.. i'll get someone else to read it for me, and i'll read my mails when i have time..
i wouldn't even want to reply emails that quick.. if it's that urgent, im sure people will call you instead of emailing u and wait for your reply.. This post has been edited by jakesean: Oct 1 2008, 11:52 PM |

QUOTE if you are into those corporate thingy, then get yourself a BB. If you live a balanced life between work and play, then iPhone is the choice. I totally agreed on that 200%.If you see someone uses BB, sure more towards "work life" things. If you see someone uses Aifontriji, sure towards "all-in-1" things. it depends totally on individual preferences and life-style. never-ending comparisons on theirs PROs and CONs. By the way.... I remember APPLE holds back the "background notification", isn't it ? That has something to do with the PUSH technology on iPhone, am I right ? |

QUOTE(MattJ @ Oct 2 2008, 08:57 AM) Neekun, Mattj,Mind sharing how you push your corporate Exchange email (Outlook I presumed) to your iphone. Would love to do that rather than get a winmob or a blackberry to do that. Unique to say the least as others are using winmobs and BB to do theirs in my company. PM me, Bro Thanks U got PM |

guys, i dont really understand the settings for the push thingy la. Need some explanations.
If i turn push on, will the settings below be neglected (Fetch and Advanced settings) ? If i set manual in advanced settings, but turn on push at the same time in the main settings page, which one will it follow ? Tried emailing my gmail and mobileme but it doesnt seem to push it to the phone. |

QUOTE(jakesean @ Oct 1 2008, 11:50 PM) if im a CEO of a company, i wouldnt wanna stare at my phone and wait for my emails 24/7.. i'll get someone else to read it for me, and i'll read my mails when i have time.. Obviously you are not exposed to corporate culture. It's norm to spend most of your time corresponding emails and attending meeting. Correct me if I am wrong.i wouldn't even want to reply emails that quick.. if it's that urgent, im sure people will call you instead of emailing u and wait for your reply.. |

This big shot got no time to wait seconds for his email, works 12-16 hours a day, doing deals with the other side of the world that has just woken up to another brand new day....and yet got time to go to Lowyat.net forum and posting in the forum.
How funny is that??? LMAO!!!! What's the point of working so hard if you don't even know how to enjoy life a little? This post has been edited by neverenuff: Oct 14 2008, 02:01 PM |

QUOTE(iZuDeeN @ Nov 1 2008, 09:17 PM) this has been discussed before (in fact in this very same thread)they are not the same. blackberries are famous and renown for a reason; their push e-mails are instantaneous and definite if you have used a blackberry before, you will definitely what am i trying to convey here. |
