I play a full size 1737 Kloz. It is extremely old and even smells old. The 1st time I had it it smelt like cockroaches. Honest!!

Had to use activated carbon to absorb the smell. Took months. There is still a faint cockroach smell and it just refuses to go away completely. But I am used to it now.

It's not in 100% good condition but playable. Fitted with high quality Zyex strings, it sounds warm, which I love.

you judge the age by the label, or appraised by true expert? sometime the smell and look won't tell you anything.

the best violin i've tried is a real italian Nicolo Gagliano made around 250 years ago, the look/smell didn't felt anything that "old", doesn't even feel like it's 100 years old. it's priced at 6 digits USD$, exhibited at KLCC last time.

That's what the handwriten label says, but I take it with a pinch of salt. But it is indeed old, with scratches all over.
