Hi guys,
Recently just bought second hand City 2007 VTEC model for my wife. Realised horrible gear box issue very common to honda. When we test drive the car was quite satisfying but when we brought back the car, it leak oil. but sent back to dealer and they fixed it.

Only issue now is I don't even know this is an issue or just the way this model works. When I shift gear to D, on the normal speed was alright but when I press acceleration reach beyond 80km speed then no matter how hard I try to press the pedal it just wouldn't pick up the pace toward higher speed...engine will sound very lound and speedometer meter just stuck here and wouldn't move...it acts like your car in idle mode P mode and rev the acceleration pedal...

Then when I press on the 7 speed mode button only speed will pick up immediately and display only show digital digit on the dashboard. Without pressing this button, in D mode didn't show digital digit display on dashboard.

Is this normal behaviour or I need to send in to SC to check? Also read from another forum said this 2007 vtec model recalled for airbag replacement. So I just need to send back in to SC without waiting for them to send me letter or call?

Thanks and Regards,
Anthony

I think there is another more "alive" Honda City thread in Car Clubs section smile.gif Anyway that sounds like CVT behaviour, coming from someone who has limited experience with CVTs.

Experience with Honda SCs is they are always busy so no time to check things for you. Maybe drop by off peak times like weekday mornings. Also yes, recall but I believe have to wait for the letter. My family has a 2010 City also waiting for airbag replacement letter from Honda but so far no news.

the rpm will rise first, then the speed should increase
as for the airbag replacement, goto:

key in your chassis number
if affected, you can register your details there for further contact
