Not possible.
Brakes are all hydraulic. No power assist like power steering. I have not known any car that have assisted brakes. ABS & EBD is different thing. |

QUOTE(neato4u @ May 4 2009, 05:59 PM) then you should try caerulln and see if you can get the 'full' potential of your brakes without starting the engine (just turn the keys until you have lights on the meter and switch to N). I don't know.Hey raymond5105 - yep can still press brake but feel no power. I press but you need super force to make the car stop. And yet the car roll very very slow on N... later i will try again and see if it's electronically controlled / assisted or not. I can't explain it. Never had this problem before. The reason current cars do not have any sort of power assist is the fear of its failure. Google around for something like brake-by-wire. We press the brake paddle & it send electronic signal to the brakes. No mechanical linkage. This is still in R&D. It'll be very interesting if someone can prove that our cars have power assisted brakes. AFAIK, no Ferrari, Porsche, BMW, Merc etc have it. At most ABS, EBD & some newer BMW that automatically press the brakes ever so slightly just to remove water from the disks (during rain) |

Btw, I'm guessing that there is other problem.
Which I can't think of. I'm 100% sure there is nothing electronic about our brakes apart from the ABS. |

QUOTE(neato4u @ May 25 2009, 09:38 AM) I can confirm it's electronically assisted on my idsi 2003. Maybe you should try performing this and see if it's the same as yours julnoel. Interesting.Yeah, really scary if sudden everything malfunction or the electronics got cut off but based on my test, if the power cuts - you still have like 2 or 3 times brake which are electronically assisted, before it run out of juice. I guess it got some capacitors to store energy for emergency, i guess... so once no power, make sure you brake and stop ASAP. Will test when I'm free. Any explanation for that? Maybe call up Honda? |

QUOTE(neato4u @ May 26 2009, 01:16 PM) lol, i'm not that free to call honda and check, maybe you can caerulln no such thing.i tested it 2 times and got the same result. The other thing, my friend who drives a 2005 honda city idsi told me that his car 'over-rided' by itself. It happens like this - my friend was speeding through the corners at speed roughly around 140km/h, there was a right turn in front, all of a sudden because it's too fast for him to corner, (he claimed lor..) the car automatically locks his steering wheel straight and automatically slows down the car until 100 or so.. then he got control back and quickly turn. This was for a sec or two maybe.. although i do not know if he got this placebo effect - because he was going quite fast and you never know what the road like, got oil or what until the steering is stuck.. but scary oso after heard that.. his mind playing himself. Probably didn't realized he is pressing the brake paddle. How come locking the steering straight in a turn & not going into a ditch or something? Doing 140 in our car into a turn is downright reckless. Even on a highway ramp, I can barely do 110 confidently. Our car rolls too much & understeer excessively. Add some more speed. Lose an extra traction on the inner tire, & we're dead. |

Top speed 184 (psshh..don't tell anyone I mean I can't do more than 110 confidently on a tight highway ramp. Added on May 26, 2009, 2:41 pmoh btw, i'm driving an 06 Vtec black This post has been edited by caerulln: May 26 2009, 02:41 PM |

QUOTE(julnoel @ May 26 2009, 06:57 PM) IM NOT CONFIDENT EVEN AT 80 lolz.. nah..you're not noob..i haf to slow down or brake gently when doin corners esp on highway ramps too )': like when exiting the highway or sth.. cos i feel the car is like gonna lose control t_t maybe im just noob our cars are noob rolls like hell. I do manage to induce understeer quite a few times during the rain. Quite scary really 1 thing I like is our engine is more powerful than Gen-2 1.6 (duh..they're proton..what can we expect) A gen-2 flash me on a highway coz i go into the fast lane just as he is about to overtake me. I just floor it & he can't tailgate me. He must be very pissed |

QUOTE(neato4u @ May 27 2009, 08:51 AM) really meh can outrun gen2? I've seen stock gen2 goes up to 190km/h worr.. But then, never tested it for myself. I drive an IDSI so top speed a bit lesser than yours lor caerulln.. My friend tried race with a gen2 CPS, he lost. it's on genting road but that CPS was fully modded oso so really dun stand a chance.. Top speed is nothing. Gen2 gearing is different so the top speed might be higher. My top speed is 184 verified by gps. our speedo is not very accurate That gen2 is not a CPS i think. CPS is basically a Proton's vtec my lil bro got a cps gen2. I hate driving it. The only thing I like is the ride height is much lower than city. I would think that our city will win going up genting due to our CVT. Anyway, I don't race those losers. All i will do is floor it. I don't swerve into lanes. That's reckless. If they do it, I'll just let them go. I'll stick in the fast lane. |

mine is completely stock as well.
Not gonna waste money to mod it. A city can't go any much faster no matter how much money we put. Spending money on a 1.5 liter engine is just not worth it. & of course the CVT is a major limitation. The city is a beater car. I don't baby it. Gotta save to buy my intermediate dream car..350z then can break the bank to twin turbo it btw, anyone here use the 7-speed to downshift for engine braking? I do it all the time that it becomes second nature already. Whenever I need to brake, I'll activate the 7-speed & lower the gear gradually down to 2 while pressing the brake paddle gently. Especially when I'm speeding & a turn coming up or some losers suddenly blocking my way. Our brakes felt too weak & easy to fade. Engine braking helps a lot. Sometimes I don't even need to press the brake paddle. Will this adversely affect the CVT in any significant way. Yes that definitely put extra stress on it. So far so good. |

I think u can get some key shops to duplicate the remote.
They'll have a device to scan the frequency. & AFAIK, our keys or remotes are not chipped to link with the immobilizer. The immobilizer is linked to the alarm system. Anyone who can disarm the alarm, will disarm the immobilizer as well. |

Regarding the alarm, I don't know how but in certain places at a very specific location, the alarm just refused to disarm.
Move a little, no problem. I'm guess some sort of interference. My dad experienced this 1st. Went to a shop then only after so long pressing the alarm button, did it disarm. I tried at the exact same location, & the exact same thing happened. This happens at some very specific places only. Usually no problem. But when it happened, it is really annoying how can u do burnout? I can barely chirp the front wheel doing neutral drop. & that definitely will kill the CVT ASAP well then maybe just a reason to swap far a manual tranny? |

my city got so much scratches, stone chips, dents & key marks that I don't care anymore.
Beater cars are supposed to be like that. It'll drive me crazy if I have to fix every one of them. As long as it gets me from A to B comfortably, that's good enough. i do wash it though |

QUOTE(vex @ Jun 16 2009, 08:59 PM) not sure bout that..Do u think if we redline a lot, the CVT will be blown? Coz that's what it does when downshifting. Redlining except under vacuum. Been doing that for more than a year consistently, no problem whatsoever QUOTE(neato4u @ Jun 24 2009, 11:47 AM) lol.. thanks julnoel. Well, you should meet him and say hi sometimes What bearing do u think that is blown? There were once I was real tired and he woke up before me (we slept in the same room). I saw him woke up and he was smiling to see me awake too, but then i kinda dozed off because i was too tired and fall asleep again after a couple of seconds. Tiba2 i feel like someone kissing my cheek and saw it was him, after kissed me he went outside to play with his mommy. So cute and I was so touched! Btw julnoel, kruk kruk kruk sound I could say 80% because of the bearing wore out already. A friend of mine changed his for RM200+/- it's quite expensive because Honda City need to replace the whole part (i don't know what part is it) instead of only the ball bearing as it's kinda like built in and you can't take it out seperately. On the other hand, i heard that this could be another unknown issue and a teamcity member asked to visit SC to check it out (haha, what a lol, if everything go to SC then what's the point you post here rite?) - sometime it's just a joke when they respond back 'You need to send over to SC' which I think is worthless and a waste of time.. I mean, if you do not know the answer, just say don't know rite.. Added on June 24, 2009, 11:57 amoh hey, hope you got good results on your exam! Bearings usually are cheap. What makes it expensive is the service charge to remove & replace the bearing which might be a PITA. |

Proton = Tin Milo
Tin Milo = Not safe Therefore Proton = Not safe Not to mention the deep corruption. Buy Perodua if u want to support national car manufacturer. Proton sux. My bro got his Gen 2 CPS hi line. withing a week, 1 of the rear door stuck jammed My dad regrets it. Never to buy a Proton ever again. [/rant] |
