Hello,  smile.gif  would like to ask from you all Honda City Owners

hmm.gif  how is the realiablity of the Car ? is there any so called any well known problems ? also I heard that parts are kinda expensixe?
also FC.

asking apart for my Dad , because he's kinda interested with the new Honda City 2009 [ dilemma between Grade S & E ]
*
Reliability of this car should be good ..from my opinion.... Parts are expensive? Like which part?

@cikun,gear oil changing for RM350 is very very expensive. Even i flush all my gear box oil with 8 liters of CVT + workman ship is still lesser than that. sweat.gif

Luckily heard only, your mum didn't went for that "Datuk package" service.Haha.

QUOTE(cikun @ Nov 4 2009, 11:58 PM)
haha.. maybe i was exaggerating a lot, but the point was it cost a hole in my pocket when combined with engine oil change plus parts and labor. which brings me the question, as posted by our friend - do we to have change the gearbox oil every 5000km ?

julnoel,
i went to cobra sc in TTDI today.. got myself the remote casing for just RM20. i also bought 2 extra rubber sticks, RM1/pc.  rclxm9.gif i'm so happy!
*
Gear box oil change every 5000km? Is he kidding? So far in the world i have never seen / heard any conventional car need to change the gear oil until that frequent. Even a BMW doesn't need to do that. Just get your gear oil change at every 30000km like other cars. 5k km change will only need on the engine oil which is on mineral base.

@gizmodo,headlamp has steam inside, seems like there is a little leak across the seal of the lamp. Can go to SC there to get some advice form them before taking out and seal again.

@dctrue,which type of engine oil are you interested with?

@Krools,year 09 on 2nd hand? Maybe just a little bit cheaper than the new price?

If you're taking a large sum of loan, it's better to get a new car as the 2nd-hand car loan interest will already be more than the drop in price.
*
Agree with your suggestion,if big amount of loan then go for new car. New car interest is 3% currently?

ISDI engine can go more than 3k rpm regardless of D or S mode. You may just floor the pedal to feel the power.

I think that your car has something abnormal and the ECU/GB refuse to rev. more than 3k rpm. IDSI can rev. until 5k+ rpm when floors in D mode.

tested on the way back home jst now. in s mode, it can rev up to 3k, and rev to any number if im using 7 speed mode, still, when im floor in D mode @2k rpm, it will straight going up to 3k rpm and stay there tho..  laugh.gif what i wanted the car to perform when i floor in D mode, it rev to 4k rpm, but seems it refusing to rev that high, but only to 3k.

Seems like vtec running at 2k rpm and directly can hit to 4k rpm when you floor the pedal eh?

of course, i still can going up more than 3k rpm slowly. i jst wonder if idsi is designed to rev to 3k rpm only when you floor in D mode, and slowly revving up?  hope idsi owners may give me some advice. Other than that, frequent engaging S / D / N will damage GB? I wish i can afford to convert to manual tranny :|

If its the ECU, then im gonna look for someone whom know to settle this thing  sweat.gif
*
I am an ISDI user here, doesn't my feedback useful to you? I have no problem to rev. up to 5k when floor in D mode,S mode will definitely do better than D mode. On gearbox,it depends on how you use your car daily.

Have a look at the warranty booklet..it tell u to go every 3 mth or 5000km whichever come 1st,  the website say 6 mths or 5000km which ever come 1st.......try talk to their toll free line....they will make u vomit blood by telling u malaysia is more severe than severe condition....regret buying honda...

That is the normal engine oil change frequent if you are on mineral base oil. Are you doing your car service in SC?

Dear raymond,

I tested the car again last week sunday. I'm not sure if the steps i taken from website to reset the ecu solve this or maybe because the style i floor in the pedal. driven over 700km in 4days still cant find the reason why only rev 3k rpm when i floor the pedal.

I try reset the ecu (not sure if its actually succeed to reset it), and tested and found it can rev easily to 4k-5k =) i floor the pedal fast instead of flooring the pedal with "normal fast" speed. oh well.. kinda not get used to drive auto yet. its my first time to own foreign car =]

Anyways, after sunday, im enjoying to drive this car even though its not vtec =)

By the ways, a seller informed me to use CVT oil for the gearbox but not ATF-Z1 oil? Now, which oil is suitable for CVT? I remember is ATF-Z1 right?

I have no idea with the engine/GB why it certainly can't rev. more than 3k rpm. sweat.gif I suspect something is not right there. But after you have reset the ECU and it can reach 4k-5k rpm, then it is normal. ISDI model isn't that weak in the sense of pick up. On CVT oil,you can just take the Honda CVT-F. model number have already forgotten. A reminder, check out your CVTF from time ti time if you are traveling frequently.

Hey I notice too that I find it difficult to rev above 3k rpm. ):

But when I sent my car for service the other day, the Sc fella who drove it around was revving it like nothing, I didnt notice if it did hit over 3k rpm or not but he didnt say anything so shld be okay??

And that memory reset thing, does it rly work? seems fairly simple to do smile.gif
*
Rev. for 3-5 seconds also cannot be more than 3k rpm? hmm.gif

Nice pick up there. thumbup.gif VTEC or IDSI should be able to perform this too.

@cikun, car pick up sometimes can help us to clean off the left over carbon in the engine. brows.gif

In 3.5 years changed 2 batteries already? Your battery dead is because of overdrawn in current from your car? If need battery replacement also don't get from them, theirs are expensive.

@neato4u,your car is fitted with power booster and mini turbo? drool.gif

@skyer,the battery from Honda should be either acid or maintenance free type. You can get one of these models from the spare part shops.

@fun_feng,it is not advisable to rev. that high speed for the first 1k km. Do it only after 1k service.

raymond5105 - @neato4u,your car is fitted with power booster and mini turbo?

Raymond, unfortunately not yet! laugh.gif My steering issue ('bite') is coming back and I've re-tighten the screw as I can't stand the 'kluk-kluk' noise coming from the rack anymore.

Got a cheap quote from a guy who sells recond steering rack (cost less than 1k) but my wife is a bit worried about using recond stuffs. Right now looking for new but cheap part to replace the steering rack.

Anyone knows where? SC quoted me near to 4k which is ridiculous sweat.gif

rclxms.gif If there is any member here using minturbo or power booster, please share out your experience with them.

I just went to service my air-cond yesterday, changed the pulley and clutch. I feel my car goes smoother and no jerking. cool.gif

Recon steering rack? Do you give you any warranty?

ray, u changed your pulley and clutch? mind me asking what clutch is this? gear clutch?  How much does that cost,

Warranty u mean for the recon set? not sure, didn't ask during that time I just asked for the price. I heard if you buy new one @ SC will give you 6 months warranty.
*
Nono,i change the new set on the pulley and clutch on the aircond. If not mistaken the shopkeeper told me the pulley cost me RM55. I pay RM185 for my whole service including new gas + oil. They give me a 3 months warranty and i feel satisfy with their service currently.

P/s: The shop i went is the panel workshop for all Proton and Perodua. All new cars which under warranty can go to the shop and service/claim warranty.

Guess should be able to change, just that you will need to get yourself a suitable rack to mount back the empty slot. The stock player is not good enough for you?
