Hi all,

My PC running at C2D 2.4ghz, 2gb ram.. will feel the spike or delay (freeze 3 sec and things move damn fast) when playing dota for every 2 - 3 minutes. Im using a wireless D-Link adapter connected to my Linksys WRT54G. I have just reformatted my pc too and defrag my hard disk.
HOwever, when I play using my P4 laptop connected to the same Linksys router will not have the spike problem.

Can anyone here give some advice how to solve the spike problem on my PC? Is it my D-link adapter problem or other part of my pc ?

Thank you.

Maybe it has something to do with the resolution. Is it always like this or recently?

I have tested with a new linksys Wireless USB adapter. Spike it still there.
I suspect is either my Hua Wei modem or my Linksys Wireless Router WRT54G.

Is there any driver update to fix this problem.? Anybody using either the Hua Wei modem or Linksys W/Router have the spike problem when playing Dota ?

What's your motherboard and graphics cards?

Does it only happen in Warcraft 3? Have you tried any other game?

i had the same issue with a D-link usb wifi adapter.

dude, can try to play with direct connection? means not using any router or wifi... Just to test and isolate the problems...

if direct connection still spike, then mayb its ur NIC driver problem, if u hav spare, try other NIC

If not NIC problem, mayb its ur graphic card driver probem...

Call host tunnel you or put anti-spike to you ( if you play dota using Garena )
Change your computer ram to 2g - 3g
Change your modem ( Maybe your modem is too slow to play online game )

or probably because of dust.

I had this problem too before (which kept me out of dota for quite awhile since I don't know what to do tongue.gif). Then after I dust everything particularly the fans, I no longer experience the lag (or to be exact, huge FPS drop).

First of all, RAM is just RANDOM ACCESS MEMORY...
By adding 1 gb ram, it doesnt help much...in fact, the difference cannot be "feel" by us...
This is why Rams are so cheap nowdays smile.gif
Secondly, his router is Linksys WRT54G.....
Its one of the best router, judging by the review...

Apart from that, i guess the problem is the game ?
just a guess..
try deleting warcraft at your C2D pc...
then copy paste the whole warcraft folder from your Pentium 4 to C2D...
see if it helps .. thumbup.gif thumbup.gif

No, I tried this with my Level One.

I use Windows to configure the wifi adapter, it occurs.
I use the driver to configure it, no problem, magically disappear.
