I've personally noticed an increase in the variety of goods/items/products/services offered at LYN, that's good news for most of us here..However, there's a bit of a worry in me, at least, on the sale of certain products particularly on health supplements, treat-any-disease miracle products or services claiming to be efficacious ... When you come across such ads/posts, please obtain the Biro Pengawalan Farmaseutikal Kebangsaan (BPFK) hologram picture (every single product MUST have it, be it medicines, traditional herbs, fish oil, vitamins, as long as it is related to the health/body condition) which correspond to the exact product it is designated for and the serial number..
If in doubt, you can contact the Biro at this number: 03-7883 5400..
To the mods + trade enforcers, I guess it is time for your team to update the guidelines + policies regarding the permission for forumers to sell these products if it hasn't been done already..Seek professional advise from the medical team regarding this. Please kindly foresee that things will probably get out of hand, with the sellers giving outrageous claims on their products/services or even start selling medicines or illegal substances IF THERE IS NO CONTROL/POLICY over this.
Please look into:
1. If a proper license is indeed required to distribute/sell these products at the forum.
2. The rules and guidelines regarding such sales..
3. The proper way to post an article/offer on the sales of such product.
4. The ingredients used, HALAL logo, packing sizes, dosage forms. Info to be posted ON THE TOPIC ITSELF.
5. Warning against potential side effects, allergic reactions, interactions with other food and contraindications..
6. What to do IF touch-wood, something happened, who to contact etc..
I love LYN as much as you guys do, so please protect the forum from any of these issues before any incident could happen and the authority/victim party taking the trader + LYN into responsibility...I understand that LYN does not participate in any of these trades but is facilitating passively, it can still be held responsible for providing a platform for such trade to be made if it is deemed illegal...
I'd strongly advise against the purchase of such products without getting prior professional consultation from the doctors and pharmacists...
We all love families and ourselves as much as the sellers love our money..But one wrong ingestion of a wrong product can be fatal..
P.S.: I used to work with the Biro years back, but I'd forgotten many of these stuffs, so I can't offer very detailed advice right now. And please pardon my bad English. I'd missed many of the other important safety issues regarding this, so again please seek further advice..
Thank you

Added on October 1, 2008, 12:42 amAn advice on seeking net/health information from the net. No doubt google and wiki are two of the best things available on the net. I have no prejudice on their usage for a quick answer on health issues, but please verify their contents via accredited websites which at least bear the HONCode (Health on The Net) label:

Example of sites which has this accreditation are:
1. Mayo clinic at: http://www.mayoclinic.com/
2. eMedicine at: http://www.emedicine.com/
3. Drug Digest at: http://www.drugdigest.org
You can at least be much confident with the info you receive from these sites than sites sponsored either directly or indirectly by the product companies, which only have profit in their mind most of the time... If there are doubts, you can check if the website is indeed accredited, by copying and paste the website into this search engine at: http://www.hon.ch/index.html. Not medically inclined/educated? Worry not. This site has list of websites with toned-down information to ensure that all patient/members of the public can understand. For assurance, get second opinion from your doctors or pharmacists.. They'll be more than willing to help..
