I think xbox live is down , due to service maintenance and usually generate the MTU error .

Back to OP , yea switch is a pretty good solution , you can have multiple connection and easy to setup .

how do you connect to live actually? been meaning to play live for so long, but i dont have the know-how.

i have a subscription to streamyx, but im using a usb modem. will that be okay? (off topic; i got the usb modem when i subscribed to the rm44 per month plan for streamyx, then i upgraded to the 88 per month plan, so shud i be getting a better modem or faster connection?)

another thing, i have a modded 360. i know2, i suck. but i really regretted not going ori. planning to sell it and buy a new, unmodded one. but that wont be happening for at least another, 6-7 months. so. will a modded 360 be a problem for online-ing?

USB Modem?
You can only connect your XBox via ethernet cable,or the official USB Wi-fi reciever.

Basically, you need to have a network going on in your house.
My mom got someone to to get a 10 foot long cable to go through the ceiling from the router in my room to the living room where the XBox is.
