i know. but there's no Breathing Light option.   cry.gif what should i do??

It is there, confirm. You got to search properly laugh.gif

Personally, I prefer to keep the breathing light on as the clock screen saver feature will eventually drain off your LCD life span.

hei guys, im using e66 and I noticed the battery life is really short.

Is there any optimal settings to prolong the battery life?
*
That is the major disadvantage of this phone, nothing much you can do about it (Nokia might had done it purposely so ppl will choose e71 instate). If you had install Garmin, remember to delete the CardRunner.dll file, save lots of battery power.

Owh, didnt know that. Is it alright to delete the CardRunner.dll thingy? Scared it might crash or sth. Yea, I have GarminXT installed on my phone and my battery life last like 1 day. Thats pretty weird right?
*
Yah, delete it only. It belongs to Garmin and it won't affect your phone system or the Garmin program. The file is located at G:\sys\bin which is your memory card where you installed your Garmin. Garmin allowed you to send your location coordinate to anyone in your phone contact. Cardrunner.dll is the plugin for this feature and the main problem is, it will autorun and keep running even you turn off Garmin (particular it means your GPS system is running all the time behind your back). This is why your battery only last for 1 day. It happen to me too and after I get rid that stupid file, my battery manage to last more then 4 days on a below average phone usage.

However, some user reported that Garmin ver. 5.00.20 will auto recreate that stupid file again every time you start up Garmin. I cannot comment about this as I'm using ver. 5.00.10 and it never happen to me. Try delete this file as well if you are using ver. 5.00.20 : CardRunner.RSC (G:\resource\plugins). Do let us know about your experiment result laugh.gif .

Hi everyone.

Heard from one handphone shop that if you send your ori nokia for repair and they find that you have install the Garmin GPS software into your nokia phone, they will not repair for you.

Anyone can confirm?
*
Never heard such thing before sweat.gif , which phone shop told you that? Careful, that shop might want to 'buaya' you laugh.gif .

QUOTE(yip_man @ Feb 19 2009, 02:55 PM)
Nokia cant know what type of Garmin you are installing... Let make this clear, E66 is GPS enable and Symbian phone. So installing Garmin or Apps is the owner rights... If not why they came out with so many Symbian phone??? For them is the warranty issue only... Garmin is not a hardware is a software where you can purchase it online... Simple as that... If they say your phone installed with Garmin so the warranty void, then the Service Center would have prob, either they are not prof or they not sure what they are talking about...
*
Indeed, yip_man is right. Garmin does not belongs to Nokia and they have no right to control what we installed in our phones. Unless we change the product code or any hardware in the phone, our phone warranty still intact and they have to serve us nod.gif .

What I can see from this situation is that handphone seller want to scare you off so he can sell you an ORIGINAL version of Garmin sweat.gif . 'Wan sek kak lan' especially at this time, they will do all sort of tactic to earn more $$ cool2.gif . Know your right and you will be safe icon_rolleyes.gif .

while searching for the handphone, I came accross the various prices

Ori Zitron from Nokia SC - about RM 16??
Ori Zitron from handphone shops - about RM13?? (everything and warranty as per Nokia SC)
AP units from handphone shops - about RM12??

It looks like there is a huge difference in the Ori Zitron hp from Nokia SC and outside shops.
*
Here is the catch, Nokia SC is selling at retail price which is the MAXIMUM OFFICIAL price you saw in the advertisement on TV or newspaper. As for normal handphone shops, they have more freedom to lower down the price, even selling the phone at cost price if you are super close to them brows.gif .

QUOTE(phantom88 @ Feb 23 2009, 10:19 PM)
i am concern in one thing. how long can the battery last with a single charge?

I receive a lot of calls in a day. But majority calls only last around 5 to 10 minutes.

should i get this phone?
*
It depends on how you use your phone. If you are a hardcore phone user, this phone is a NO NO. My e66 can last for 4 days on a below average usage (GMS, not 3G Line). If I use it together with my Motorola bluetooth, 1hour++ usage = 1 battery bar gone rclxub.gif .

More new handphone is on the way in the next coming months and if you are not urgent to get a new handphone, I suggest you be patient and wait. I'm looking forward at E55, E75 and Samsung Omnia HD brows.gif .

Anyone experienced battery draining issues with this phone?

This is the 2nd time it happens. I  had it fully charged and the phone is in offline mode. Battery low warning comes on  about 8 hours later.

The first time it was online with no calls and it drained in around 12 hours.
I don't think I had any other programs running. I should have ran nokia energy profiler when I happened. Will remember to do that the next time it happens.
*
First, I suggest you to install the latest firmware. After installing, soft reset your phone. Remember to backup your important stuffs. Run a test and see how the result first. If it still occur, you have to change your battery and the charger. If all these method still doesn't help, you have no choice but to send your phone for checking. Btw, your phone is Original or AP?? If is Original then no problem (you can even insist to change for a new phone) but if is AP then 'tai lok' rclxub.gif .

How do you switch off the WLAN?
I noticed that even after I have set WLAN scanning to OFF, the WLAN icon still appears below the battery icon (top RH)

Does it mean that the WLAN is still switch ON?
*
Yes, the icon means your phone is still connected with WLAN.

I see. So the WLAN icon is to show the availability of WLAN and NOT that WLAN is running.  nod.gif

Does it now mean that once I have set WLAN scanning to OFF, then WLAN will not be running until I set them to run again?

Thanks
No, if you phone is connected to WLAN, you have to off it manually by closing any active connection in WLAN Wizzard option. WLAN scanning is a feature to search/scan for any active WLAN hot spot then allowed to connect them.

You guys got read the manual book or not sweat.gif .

Has anyone encountered this problem with their hp's SD card?

1. hp connected via the cable to the pc using the mass transfer mode.
2 Access the SD card from the pc.
3. After that, safely remove the hp
4. when trying to access the SD card from the hp, using the Active notes. It says that there is no memory card present.

5. switch off the hp and remove the SD card.
6. reinsert the SD card and switch on the hp again.

Now the SD card can be detected.

Is this norm? Experience this a couple of times.
BTW, I am using the 8GB Sd card.

What firmware is your phone? Try updating it to the latest as some of our members did encounter this issue on the older firmware.

i tried numerous times on the ntorch software but it seems if i entered the date before expiry it would say error in certificate. and if i entered more than the expiry date, it would say expired.
If this software doesn't work, is there any other software that could activate the torchlight?
*
May I ask did your set your App. Manager option on your phone to accept 'All' software installation? Beside this program is an old program, back to year 2006. Tips has been given out brows.gif .

bros,

when i 1st got my fon, i found it quite slow, but i thought E66 is like that.
until i compare with a E71, ours E66 is very obviously slower than E71,
when i press the phone book short cut key or the calendar key, it takes about 3 sec to display.

is this normal for our phone? or do i need to do anything?

appreciate and thank for any feedback.

tq

o.. firmware will affect the battery life?

to me the battery life is still acceptable, + we can have car charger
but
the slowness is quite unbearable.
how someone has an answer here.
*
What firmware you are using? I believe you are the only one facing this problem since I don't hear any other members complaining about this issue sweat.gif . Upgrade to the latest version and see the result.

The latest firmware version is V210.21.007 ... 27Feb2009

How is it & have you tried it out? Hopefully this will prolong the HP battery...   rclxms.gif
*
The new firmware did improve the camera function and now you will see lesser purple tint in the pictures. Also both the picture gallery and accelerometer run faster which is very good to me rclxms.gif . Overall it was a minor upgrade which I don't really recommend.

Why? Cause I feel my phone was not as smooth as the previous firmware on the graphic animation part. The scroll bar animation will flick when you scroll fast. Not really a major issue but it just seem not 'PERFECT' to me any more laugh.gif .

As for the battery part, well I believe it was the battery hardware problem which we cannot solve with the improvement of the firmware. Or could it be the phone hardware which is sucking up most of battery power unintentionally? Only Nokia engineer can tell us the answer. We will know more about it when E75 is out in the market as it is using the same battery model as our phone.

Btw, check out E55. I saw a girl using this phone in LRT (prototype unit I guess as the phone is not out yet). Damn tiny and it looks damn cool compare to picture drool.gif . I gone get this phone when it is out in the market (EUR 265 only, even less then 5800 XM retail price).

what's the current cheapest price for E66 (AP set ) that u guyz can get?

i juz surveyed one shop at kelana jaya..they quote me RM1200 full accessories + 2GB. Is this ok? Original RM1350

Wanna buy this hp next week.
*
If you gona pay RM1.2k for an AP phone, might as well pay extra RM150 for an Original one. Better warranty coverage. Get AP phone only when the price different is more then RM300 or if the they have special color or something different then the original one.

I personally suggest you to wait a month or more as more new phones will be release soon. You will have more choices and the price of an original e66 phone will drop that time. I got my AP e66 for RM1.3k last year when the original phone price still stand at RM1,799. JUST ONE GOD DAMN MONTH only and the price drop till RM1,450 shakehead.gif .
