great explanation! you will also find that for models under 'new models' aka first edition (meaning it's a new casting for this year, you will find that every other models are basically redo of old models which their debut year can be read bottom of the car) each has several repaint in different waves within that year, matters for those who wish to complete it also great to be displayed side by side.

and also the more you into hotwheels you will realize some wanted models are not possible for you to score on your own (maybe cause it's very limited on the market, or particular wave doesn't hit here, or it don't belong to basic rm5.90 models but higher end ones especially rubbers).. then here comes 2 options, to start working TRADES to those who might have, or looking around for uncarded, 'LOOSE' ones instead. As for trade the best is to ask around first for opinions what would be a fair exchange (even a 1 t-hunt with other t-hunt not necessarily mean it's balanced trade).. as for loose, can't explain in details here, just ask around ppl who regularly show off their loose collections here

@shadox:thanks dude, I now can say i know a little bit more about collecting after 8 months since I first started. So how is your 2008 rubber collection coming. You got them all yet? haha

First Editions - cars that debut on the mainline whethr it is based on real-life vehicles or from the HWs designers team..

Track Stars - cars that are design exclusive for racing on the HWs track sets..

T-Hunts - consists of 12 cars per year.. 1 car released per month..

Segment Series - cars that are decorated to a certained theme (eg. Heat Fleet - the cars will hv flame tampos, etc) & so on..

the following yr.. the cars from previous yrs will be jumbled up & selected for the next casting.. these are known as Variations..

only applies to other countries except malaysia.. hahahaa!

Actually I think other countries are also the same..Like the US, I think they are short too but not by much and definitely not as much as in malaysia
