I was really amazed at the authenticity of this replica kit sold by extreme cars. Its basically panels welded onto a base Peugeot 406.The only way to distinguish this fake 360 modena is by looking at its wheelbase which is 30MM longer than a real Ferarri 360.
Another replica Ferrari 360 Stradale put side by side the real thing
Have a look at the video.Anyone interested to try the kit out .Ferrari rims, exhaust and side mirrors are included.
The whole kit cost just RM79854.Then you need to buy a used Peugeot 406 coupe which should not be a problem. So compare that to buying a real 2nd hand Ferrari 360 modena here which cost RM698,000 the last I checked.
Why Use Peugeot 406
Why we used the 406 coupe

The 406 coupe is the right car to use for lots of reasons. The windscreen is the right size, the wheel base after our alterations is only 1 and a half inches longer than the genuine car .(longer results in a better look, as you don't have to distort the panels in any way). The dashboard of the car is very close to the genuine car and with our interior kit the door panels can easily be made to look like the 360 door panel.
The car can be lowered to the correct ride height without upsetting the steering geometry . This is achieved by bolting the track rod end in the from the top of the hub, instead of the normal way from the bottom of the hub. The car is also a big car like the 360 & has all the nice extras people like to have in a high class car as standard. It is available with both 2L and 3L V6 engines and although the cars cost over £25,000 new, you can now get them from as little as £2,500.
The car has the engine in the front of the car. Now at first you would think this not right and maybe silly as the engine in a 360 is in the rear, but it has its advantages. You have 4 seats. It can also be converted to a 2 seater with our simple 2 seater conversion pack. The chassis is strong enough to take an engine in the back, we are doing this but also leaving the engine in the front so two 3L engines with 4 wheel drive will also be available soon. This will be a limited run and cars will be £40,000, so if you want a perfect replica it is possible. It has a large boot and is designed by pininfarina, the same company that designed the 360. The whole car was designed by them and shares no panels , either inside or out with the 4 door 406 saloon . They also use the well known Brembo performance brakes on the 3L V6.

i think it came out in the TG malaysia mag b4.. even they were fooled by it at 1st..
the 406 coupe is already 2 me a splendid lookin car.. the shape was designed by the same people who did the 360 modena in fact, pininfarina..
i guess the only version suited 2 put the ferrari kit on is the 3.0L v6 engine.. at least that has some grunt, although of coz it wouldnt be able 2 match the 360's awesome 3.6L 400bhp v8.. other versions wit the smaller engines juz wouldnt do, especially the diesels.. juz imagine, a ferrari lookin car wit a tractor's engine
the thing is, it wouldnt sound like a ferrari, n the interior of the 406 coupe is one of the dullest lookin one ive seen in my entire life.. or does extreme cars also made a custom exhaust system which makes the car sound better??
i wonder.. did they move the engine from front to back?? kakaka... 406 is Front engine... Ferarri is back... so they move it back? kakka
I think they sticked to the front engine concept.Only the MR2 ferrari 360 replica engine is at the back but this replica kit looks more authentic than the one made using the MR2.
I remember Jeremy Clarkson drove a Ford GT40 replica and he say he cannot distinguish between the real one he had at his house with the one he is driving

They also strip out the interior for the mod.The stock dashboard was remodelled, you get a ferrari steering,Recaro racing seats and Ferrari style gearshift lever

how bout the exhaust?? they rebuild that as well??

They say if you use a original ferrari exhaust piping and muffler,it sounds very authentic.Their exhaust is a replica of the real ferrari 360 modena exhaust.Sound not as nice as the original one

the trouble wit gettin an authentic ferrari pipings n mufflers is that its gonna cost more than the stock 406 itself, n i am not joking, this is true.. ill stick wit the one theyve fitted, eventhough not as nice, its better than the original, rite??
another question.. wat bout the back seats?? does it still has it.. coz im assuming they still retain the engine at the front wit front wheel drive, its gonna be major work 2 convert it 2 mid engined rear wheel drive layout..
i can see the point of this car.. its an average joe's solution 2 gettin a ferrari, eventhough its not quite really a ferrari.. think bout it, its gonna be use only for posing, so no need mega power n mega performance.. it looks authentic enough 2 even fool motoring journalists.. n plus, its gonna be much much much cheaper 2 run than a real ferrari..

Haha no.They took out the two seats at the back and fitted a big carbon firewall to make it a two seater.Think of the firewall as a partition. You can request they retain the two seats but it won't look like the real thing then. But you will still get a very big boot space in the place that should be housing the ferrari V8 engine in the real thing
Well Ferrari are after all for posing.I don't think you are able to drive like a maniac on malaysian public road considering our ever impending pothole problem. If you got a real ferrari and sped into a pothole, consider your whole suspension gone cause the 360 modena has a very low ground clearance.
Check here for the photos of the firewall partition making it a two seater.Soon they will have a limited run for a two engine replica 360 modena making it a 4WD car.One engine at the front while another 406 3 Litre V6 at the back for more oomph.
Close to 80K for the kit seems to be a bit expensive and I'll definitely skip What's the point spending so much just for the looks? Nevertheless, it looks cool
from the site i understand that they use moulds from the original 360 2 build the panels, n instead of making changes 2 these panels 2 fit the car (which is wat most replica carmakers do), they made changes 2 the car itself 2 fit the panels.. that means, u could change the panels wit original ones.. thats astonishing..
well at least mr2 is an MR car... similar with ferrari MR drivetrain...
MR2 also got but different bodykit shop.
Initially extreme sportscar shop also used a donor MR2 for the ferrari 360 replica but went into problem cause the MR2 is shorter than a Ferrari 360 by almost 2 inch so the car will look weird with the side doors looking distorted and out of shape. And they had trouble lowering the car ride height to 360 modena specification without running into the trouble of destroying the car steering geometry and handling properties.
So they went on and found this Peugeot 406 coupe suitable for the job as this car is only 30mm longer so its easier for them to alter it.Plus the rear windscreen is of the exact size and shape for the replica bodykit. They also have no problem reshaping the interior dashboard as the layout of it are almost similar in shape to a real 360 modena.
They will be introducing a full Mid engine layout mod for the Peugeot 406 while retaining the front engine. So you will have two engines powering all four wheels.

any picture to show? they convert it in malaysia or?
or u own one? can guide us? then we can form "ferrari replica" team
thanks
Most are imported from overseas where the MR-S/MR2 Spyder is popular, but I heard there 1-2 bodykit makers tried to fabricate locally. However I am not sure of the latest outcome though. How perfect/close the replica can be, it all depends on your budget. Join us at ZTH subforum for MR club.
Btw,there is a ferrari replica maker in thailand. His artwork is superb I must say.Price starts from USD10,000 and gets higher if you opt for more original ferrari parts.
Malaysia boleh.. hope to see some local cars mod to ferrari..
There is a dark blue Mitsubishi Evo VII running around Subang already. It was originally a Waja 1.6 auto. The owner cut and paste body panels from Evo VII to it. Outside, 100% Evo VII front to rear including the lights and wheel arches. Inside, Waja dashboard and engine.
