Dear members,

Just would like to ask if anybody has been following the HVD series at Jia Yu Channel Astro 304? I've rewatched the recently concluded Dictator series after trying to locate it for quite some time (first watched it back in the 90's when I was a kid) and what memories it brought!

Any fans knows what happened to the actors today? Particularly the guy who brilliantly portrayed the power-crazed patriarch Kan Tong Loi? Or his son/son-in-law played by the same guy? And the wheelchair-bound maniac of a daughter? Can't seem to find anything with them these days.

And if I'm right HVD wrapped up during the 97 economic recession, however the next series at Jia Yu looks very much like a HVD production with a familiar actress from the HVD stable (only looking older now) and a few local exteriors (Petronas Twin Towers).

Also did the guy who played the doctor committed suicide in real life due to financial problems? Sadly Malaysian Cantonese series has the potential to go far if not for the financial crisis.

i remember wong chee keong,looi ngoi keng,desmond tan and many more..still remember last time sitting in front of the tv waiting for TV2 air HVD dramas...

Where did you find Dictator? It was and still is awesome. On par with Hong Kong TVB dramas.

The Dictator shown at ASTRO Jia Yu channel.. ended yesterday.. but dun really understand the ending.. haih... feeling like watching it back again cos i've miss some parts... duno whr to find the DVD...

plus the upcoming show... as Creepo said.. seems lk very kan cheong also... =)

I actually liked those HVD shows back then. Stopped watching free channels after I got into college, now it's all Astros.

I even remember that puffy cheek lady. Used to be cute, now her skin is like dried mandarin oranges.

*some* HVD series are indeed better than the current local+Mediacorp productions, aired in ntv7.

I think the HVD series which I watched when I was young used to be quite ok after that all the mandarin series which usually show around 11pm in tv2 are really SUCKY

boss, what's the title in chinese called? i only remember the theme song is by Dave Wong, 王杰 - 人在风雨中. i also can't seem to find a single detail at all about this series. damn!

i remember one of the HVD male actor committed suicide a few years back

that tycoon Kan Tong Loy (from the series The Dictator).. 1 of the best eva local tv series character eva! i still remember the series until now.
