If you just finished SPM, you have 2 choices, either LCCI or CAT
My advice is
1)If you are really hardworking in study, can pass exams then you can go for CAT because in CAT exams, you have to pass all 9 papers to continue to ACCA
2)If your results are just so so, then you better choose LCCI because it is not so difficult compare to CAT and cheaper overall

After you finished either one of them, you can continue to ACCA

CAT is like a diploma, you can still get job with the certificate.
If you want to continue your further study in future, you can still continue to study ACCA

For your info, CAT is Certificate of Accountant Technician while LCCI is a 3rd Level Diploma.
After Finished either one, u may proceed to ACCA.
U will be able to get jobs also with CAT or LCCI

Im taking ACCA also, but i not taking through CAT or LCCI.. I taking through Diploma.. Which Diploma = 5 exempted paper, Advance Diploma = 4 paper exempted.. So after finish my advance, i need to take 5 external paper of ACCA.. But b4 i take my 5 external paper, planning to take my Degree in Accounting (3month).. After that only take the external paper..

I choose this road cause is safe and im not that smart / hardworking student.. tongue.gif

Hi there! I've no background with accounting but had underwent a series of course about mgmt acct. Through this course, I've learnt Fin. Acct, Cost Acct., Bus. Finance, Mgmt. A/c and Economics.

I'm thinking to go for LCCI now. Is LCCI that difficult as i've been hearing numerous comments about it. I've few friends who failed to pass the exam. So, i'm in a great fear that it's too heavy for me. I would loved to get some comments from the senior.

Anyone knows how much it roughly costs upon completion? I've got a quotation from a local college in KL which costs 5k-6k included exams.
It's a part-time study mode which will take 1 1/2 yrs for completion. Is this considered reasonable? Does anyone has a better suggestion?

About CAT and LCCI, can anyone tells me their differences?

thx

CAT is better. Their subjects are more comprehensive. You will learn and study more things but this means also the cost is higher and the pass rate is higher too than LCCI.

LCCI is cheaper , and easier for beginner, and widely recognise by employer

if u want to go further in ACCA, it's better for u to take CAT as LCCI have no exemption in ACCA but CAT will be exemption in ACCA part 1

Since you're already doing STPM, why not continue on to university and get an accounting degree?

This is ok, but you may have to think more deeply as in Malaysia, LCCI only equivalent to STPM. It is better to have a degree.

Better and safer, is to get a degree instead of doing ACCA from scratch.

I finished LCCI and took ACCA from part one, now stuck in last paper. Mean my highest qualification is just LCCI diploma, if i'm not able to complete the ACCA.

ps. I'm not a smart student, so i have used around 6 years until now for the ACCA, and still counting. You may try also if you are confident that you can finished the whole ACCA in shorter time than normal degree course.
