i'm thinking to get g1 since i prefer to have physical keyboard, but the phone price is ridiculous. i search lowyat forum, it sell around 1.7k compare to magic which sell for 2k at cimbclick. anybody know where i can get cheap new g1

btw, anybody use 2400mAh g1 extended battery?

i'm getting my g1 tonite. second hand unit. any advice what to check?

no lah. the guy bring wrong phone. going to meet him again this afternoon.

he bring locked g1. so, i meet him again to get the unlocked g1. still playing with my new phone.

confirm easy to root using the tutorial from theunlockr.com. i just root it last nite and running Cyanogen.
just read carefully and understand the steps.

the steps to root is really easy. i root my G1 after 4 days after i get my phone.

"rm -rf /" basically mean force delete entire folder. it's linux command

i mod my phone to CyanogenMod. not much different. mainly what i can see is interface enhancement such as:
- 5 desktop screen. previously 3
- restart option when long press power button
- can overclock after root
- remove ads from application using "Adfree" apps
- better camera function in default camera software

i'm using sandisk 16GB now. no problem so far.

btw, anybody using clear protection such as invisibleshield or clear armor?
planning to go something to protect from smudge and scratch

i just fund out way to hide directory from prying eyes. u can use hidenseek apps that cost usd0.99 or my free method. not sure if it work for unrooted android

1. install astro file manager
2. go into setting and check show hidden file
3. browse in location of the folder that u want to hide. in my case, i want to hide 'picture' folder
4. press long on the folder until menu pop up, click Edit then choose Rename
5. rename to folder to '.picture'

now that folder is hidden from all android apps including gallery, video player

to unhide, do step 3-5 and rename back to original folder name

anybody using hero rom on g1? i test about 4 hero rom for g1 and all slow compared cyanogen. need to find fast hero g1 rom

cheap screen protector should be ok. i can't find any screen protector from lowyat, so i order online at dealextreme, free shipping
other then that, i get extra 2400mah battery. useful if u travel a lot and don't have power source.

i just install the new map. turn by turn not function in malaysia yet. if i put location in US, it work.
