naTTan, thanks for ur info. But i hv problem to set up my yahoo mail. wen i click next after editing the incoming mail server, it says username or password incorrect but im sure i hv entered the correct username n password. anyone encountered this prob. thks for the help

yes i changed my locality to india wen b4 setting the mail. Anyway tried with new password in default mail n still cant work so used k9 mailand voila its works. thanks alot man.

SUPER TIP

If any of u guys don't want to use the 3G/EDGE that is always connected in G1, there is this simple method to disable it.

Just go to Setting>Wireless Controls>Mobile networks>Access point Names>(select ur APN)Digi>APN>(delete 1 letter) ie:Diginet become Digine and then save.

Thats it, the EDGE/3G logo will disappear from top but u can still make calls.

If you need to use EDGE/3G just follow the instruction but add back the letter u deleted.

* works with DIGI, not sure about Maxis and Celcom

i have wifi at home and campus. plus even most of the mamak shops also offer free wifi now. so don't wan to spend extra RM30 on EDGE.

I wonder if the Penang government is going ahead with island wide free wifi project or not, if they do then it will be the best place to use this phone.lol

If any Digi user got problem setting up mms in, this is the setting:

APN : digimms
Username & Password : mms
MMSC : mms.digi.com.my/servlets/mms
MMS Proxy : 203.92.128.160
MMS Port : 80
MCC : 502
MNC : 16

If you only want to use the mms and not the EDGE, then you can create new APN and key in this info;then u can delete your old APN. If u wanna use both then just merge this setting to your old APN.



Thanks grazy for your help in setting up the mms. By the way have you solved the qweky sound from your G1 coz unfortunately now my G1 have started giving the sound as well. Hope you can let me know how to stop the sound if you have found the way. Thanks in advance.


I wanna ask fellow G1 users if you guys have tried the Invisible Shield from US. I'm thinking of buying one for my phone. My G1 already have a screen protector but I'm looking to protect my whole phone from scratches but I don't like the bulky protectors.

Digi's Edge is not bad at RM66 n if u r a student convert to Dcampus plan n pay only Rm30 for 1month unlimited usage.

EDGE is quite good based on my experience, but I never tried 3G so dunno how slow it is compared to 3G. Do remember that EDGE is only available in Klang Valley; outside that will run in GPRS. Surprisingly, it was faster than the stupid streamyx at times and i had no problems to stream youtube videos wen I was in Melaka which is outside of EDGE coverage.

Added on April 2, 2009, 5:51 pmI'm using it also; bought it from grazzy. If you really gonna use a lot wifi, gps and other stuff than the standard battery just don't cut it. You will get use to the battery's big size and will like it if you are a heavy user since you don't have to look for charger very often.

I though want to buy the cradle but if it can't fit the mutated G1 then its ok.

I bought it in LYN also in garage sales section. Someone was selling it 4 a very nice price so I immediately bought it.

Too bad, Magic is delayed if not G1 price would have fallen a bit n would have been very attractive to those who want to buy it.

Well, most of it is true for me, I do browse the web daily,download apps at least once a week from the Android,traded up from a basic handset(SE T610 heheehe),use YouTube at least once a week and access Wi-Fi on a daily basis.

It's sure is more comfortable and the new back cover plastic feels nice to touch.

The hype is actually more about the OS-Android. Wats the point of having a pretty phone with an OS that sucks n needs constant rebooting (Read: Windows Mobile). The outstanding capabilities of Android trumps any shortcomings the hardware MIGHT have. Remember Beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder.

anyway, here u go-

follow this method to create new apn :
Press Menu --> Settings --> Wireless controls --> Mobile Networks --. Access Pointt --> Press Menu --> create new APN as above --> Save

key in this info in the field wen u choose to create new apn:
name : digi
APN: diginet
usename: digi
password: digi
mcc: 502
mnc: 16

leave rest of the field empty n delete ur other apn with mms setting n other previous setting. do remember that u will always b connected to gprs once u did the setting. go to market n find the program to turn it off. so sorry if u r unclear of anything. u can gtalk to me at thana23@gmail.

p/s: im rushing to watch MU game.

no prob n welcome onboard. the speed could b slow coz u will b running in gprs if outside of EDGE coverage area. EDGE is available in klang valley only if im not mistaken.
