agree. it looks like it was design during the 80s before it finally making it's way out in 2008.

The hype is actually more about the OS-Android. Wats the point of having a pretty phone with an OS that sucks n needs constant rebooting (Read: Windows Mobile). The outstanding capabilities of Android trumps any shortcomings the hardware MIGHT have. Remember Beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder. icon_rolleyes.gif

You can say that. In fact, any recent phone design will be better than the G1. BUT the G1's design is more functional. I like the slide-out display where the keyboard is revealed. Of course, a lot of people criticized on the angled 'chin'. Thats functional too because if the G1 was to be placed face down, the chin will prevent the ball pointer from touching.

Yes its boring but it is OS is what we're pursuing. The Magic will be better in terms of design. This is all for a good start. We've already seen announcements from many manufacturers adopting Android recently. Lets hope they will contribute more beautiful phones. rolleyes.gif

Oh by the way, the price for Dream is around RM1800-2000. Scout around Low Yat or the Garage Sale section.

Muah...ha...ha... now my droid doesn't need chompsms ^^P, doesn't need a third party virtual keyboard anymore tongue.gif

Because updated it to Magic Rom 1.5 (Magic Radio rom also) with Cupcake goodies.

It needs to do a wipe, now have to restore with mybackup.

Still checking/testing on its stability ^^)

---------------------------------

Aiks!! Lost auto-rotate function blink.gif ------ jorry, it actually works, just have to enable it under settings ^^]

The firmware size is bigger than JF1.43h, not much space left for other apps installation.

Lost multi-touch in the browser.

Oops... Power Manger Pro aslo not working shocking.gif

Maps doesn't have Latitude yet.

Since you have rooted G1, updating to JF RC33 or any JF versions will be pretty straight forward.
Anyway, add me (whlooi@gmail.com) in your gtalk, I see how I can help ^^

Yes, most of the apps still based on 1.0/1.1 structure, the new firmware is 1.5, some more it's for the Magic not meant for our G1 ^^]

So far lost Latitude, Auto-ratate, and multi-touch browser only, others new features like improved camera, video recording, native virtual keyboard, stereo bluetooh A2DP, improved memory management....

Heh! Most of the current apps still can be used like atrackdog, photoslide, dxtop, Bigplanet, Documents to go, Mybackuppro ... but i missed my powermanager ^^(

-------------------------

Sorry, the auto-rotation is a built-in feature for Magic, just have to enable it under the settings, it has a nice transition screen also when switching rotation ; p

Grazy's problems are expected because it was a direct port from Magic. Remains to be seen when Cupcake G1-version is made available. I guess most of us will be happier. Hehehe...

Lets hope Cupcake is not half-baked tongue.gif
