seems all fine but

1. yup, ebuddy confirm cant use with donut yet. last time updated donut root, I thought there was a problem because I cant find ebuddy on market

2. I thought there was a problem with contacts in donut root, but the official one also. whenever my frens sms appeared +6017, +6013, it wont appeared their names. contacts wont detect it rclxub.gif so I need to change my frens numbers from 017, 013 to +6013, +6017

yours?

hi guys,
I am currently looking at either getting a used 5800 or HTC Dream. Haven't really seen any comparison between the 2 phones, so I would appreciate any advice. BTW I am looking for a phone primarily for watching movies, listening to music and browsing the web (i am also into modding stuff). I like the 5800, but the exterior is a real turn off (looks like a cheap china toy tongue.gif) and I don't really like the responsiveness of the touchscreen (resistive instead of capacitive) and Symbian is not the most finger friendly OS. But the dedicated music controller, 3.5mm jack, headset which allows you to skip and control volume (not sure if HTC Dream has an aftermarket headset which does that) is a plus point for the 5800. And there seems to be more accessories for the 5800 (since more people are using it)

G1 is the most fun and functional phone i have ever used...and ive been around. Its v good for movies as i use it for my in-flight entertainment. smile.gif The 3gp files play ok. mp4 vids are better, clearer, but take up more space., hence i do need a mini sd w bigger storage. I had a 5800 before..didnt get me off at all.

After owning a G1 for 3 months or so, i can honestly say there isnt anything any phone on the market can do that the g1 cant match or do better.

thanks for the short review Chris. Agreed, not really keen on the 5800 anymore after trying it out in real life. WTF was nokia thinking! Really horrible build quality.

BTW how's the video playback performance of the G1? Is it smooth? I have also been doing some reading, and it seems that the G1 can't play divx/xvid encoded videos. Or can it? hmm.gif

video playback performance G1 is smooth & quality even par up to Iphone video playback performance too.
G1 support high quality video playback encode with H.264 on MP4 format. thumbup.gif
divx/xvid MP4 encode are not supported on G1 devices.

yeah Im interested too but watch at youtube, seems all although smooth but still lag here and there.

now what I really want is to get app to sdcard and thinking of going to 1.5 cupcake as the donut area contact problem really bugs me

when ppl sms, some will show +601... while if the person call, will show 01.... really irritate man. what, 1 person need 2 contact numbers?
yeah, lets say I save lek_03 number is 012 333 2222, but when he sms, lek_03 name wont appear as I save it in 012. damn. hate it

erm, avoid invisible shield screen protector because its too good. its a bit thick for the screen so it will not respond well.

extra battery can check seidio online.

im using body glove hard case but too thick. only use it when I go play on court or something when I need to protect my 'baby' tongue.gif

Yup. I use a non reflective screen protector for itouch but i cut to fit my screen. Coupled that with a body glove rubberised case and my baby is well protected. I had two extra cases but i sold it off already. I plan to get a pink swarovsky case for my wife soon. smile.gif

cheap screen protector should be ok. i can't find any screen protector from lowyat, so i order online at dealextreme, free shipping
other then that, i get extra 2400mah battery. useful if u travel a lot and don't have power source.
