Xbox 1st Gen error "12 Service Required", please help rescue my beloved xbox :(

Thanks to check you can try taking a normal pc-dvd rom drive set to jumper to slave mode. then plug in the IDE cable and use a Y-splitter power cable from the hdd to power the pc-dvd rom. if it can boot up then your hdd is ok, but you will still have to look for a xbox dvd drive replacement. i replaced my dead xbox drive with a pc-dvd rom because as mentioned, its very hard to find a replacement xbox dvd drive and too expensive to order from overseas(maybe used also), but with a pc-dvd rom you have to do some soldering, make some modifications to fit and you cannot play original xbox discs. |

Thanks, Jacky same problem for me in penang also, no shop reparing xbox so i decided to repair it myself. if replacing the hdd you need to clone the hdd with some software tools. |
