QUOTE(leng2 @ Oct 15 2008, 11:50 AM) sure sure! I wanna try your VCI also, haven't really tried using that ; I realized it very handy for spinning tunes on the go QUOTE(XtOtH3D @ Oct 15 2008, 01:32 PM) later I try again, cos so far no noticeable latency ; and the review they did on it that I read online also said that there were some lag, but its frequency is beyond our ear's audible range anyways hahahaha |

QUOTE(-milo- @ Oct 16 2008, 07:18 PM) icic.. djtutor.com, watch the videos on gears etc ; so you get a rather detailed overview of what you're getting urself into, there are two types of Djs as well, one that will start off with mixing, the other will start off with scratching/turntablism. the site should be enough to give u a super detailed view anyways, good luck mate! good luck in your competition man,im sure u'll do good with practice try record when you're on that nite to share with us btw guys, any recommended set for a bedroom dj wannabe? any useful info to share with a complete newbie? |

QUOTE(r3ev3 @ Oct 17 2008, 12:16 AM) saw his mixology flyer in Echopark, I took my classes in SS15 there, called deck knights academy... crazy pricing.. now stopped 'cause I'm funding my equipment and doing self-exploration on the topic itself. Much savvy.edit : which also brings me back to the point, whereby I'm more into turntablism. More over than mixing, since my mixing sense isn't up to average level yet... don't get me wrong though, I enjoy mixing too... just that the place I learned from back then don't have TTs yet, and I found out that the internet is a good place to start This post has been edited by carsonoel: Oct 17 2008, 12:23 AM |

QUOTE(-milo- @ Oct 18 2008, 10:56 AM) morning guys..was wondering if u guys have any websites that will give reviews on the various dj gears? I'm into scratching now, I always go to www.skratchworx.com for gear reviews ; but it's sorta more tailored to scratch DJ's need tho, but still a very rounded review nonetheless |

personally, this is what I think.
1. You sign up for a course, so you learn and benefit from the veteran that is teaching you ; and of course, if you so happen to only have money for a course that particular time. It will mean that you can't get your own gear so you have to go to the studio and use the gears provided. Means you have to be super free to always hang out there, like some of my friends in my tutor's place did. One of them went there everyday. And of course the gears will no doubt be quite high-end. I learned how to mix on a pair of CDJ800s with the DJM600. That easily costs more than 3k. 2. Whereas, you get your own gear. It will be intimidating, and watching video tutorials can be quite pace-breaking. As you see the person in the video trying his best to explain and then show it to you. Whereas in a live 1on1 session you can start throwing questions, and there will be a live feedback from you tutor. But either way, it always feels good to have your own gear. Granted it won't be the top of the line, but! everyone starts somewhere. I'd hate to really recommend either one, 'cause both of them have certain advantages like you've mentioned earlier. |
