I went to petshop yesterday. They sell 'Panda Hamster' but look like RC hamster. The fur is all black but different texture compared to RC. A bit rough like carpet. Not smooth. What type of hamster is that?

My syrian delivered 6 pups this morning. I think willing to let go 3 of them after 1 month. I quarantine her and pups to safe place.

Last time she delivered 6 pups too but only 2 survived. Both female 3 months now. Hope this time all her pups will survive.

how do you guys toilet train your hammies..any suggestion for WW?
*
Dear ann3,

Put some of the poo and pee inside a litter box. Then they will know the scent and it will be trained. I've done that before. Now my hamster is a toilet trained hamster. Hehe..

Anyone have any success experience to share in hand feeding few days old baby hamsters?

This morning I found out that a stray rat came inside my house, attacked all my hamsters (Robo & WW) in aquariums.  20 hamsters  dead bitten by the rat.  Now left the babies without their mothers. Left only 3 male adult  hamsters survived from that attack.  Poor thing...now I use syringe to hand feed them.  Not sure they could survive or not.   cry.gif

Poor little things... 2 days ago all my 6 baby syrian hamster also died. Their mother ate them all. I dont know why.. But the mother looks sick after that. Very thin, u can even feel the bone inside.. but still alive..

Try to search in the web on how to survive the babies. I use to search and search on few articles in the web.

My mother syrian that eat all her pups (6 pups) last week died yesterday. She looks so weak and always sleeping day and night and less eating since she ate her pups. Trauma maybe..I even can feel its bone inside so thin lorr.. Yesterday she died already. Body like ice already when came back from work.

a question.. how long it takes for the pups to open their eyes??
*
My experience... 14 to 17 days. But they still drink its mother milk. At 23rd day the pups weaned and should be separated from its mother already. Also to separate them by gender. Male with male, female with female or they'll will mate at that time.

How can we know the mating is succesful?

last few days they have mating, yesterday mating again  sleep.gif
*
My experience...

U put the female inside the male cage. The female will go round and round and there's a some sort of liquid (yellowish) with come out from the female vagina. Mating time for female will accour once in 4 days. The male will approach the female from the back and mate lerr at that time. But the mating will be done few times.

Let them in the cage for about 30 mins. After mating the male will clean itself, also the female. That is the final step. Then u have to wait until 16 days for syrian, 18-20 days for WW (gestation period) until it deliver pups. U can see the 'perut' budging at 10 days time.

Anyone want to add? hehe..

ww tend to fight anyway. why the baby bite human can cos by alot reason too.  now its stress with the fight with its mum, or stress cos suddenly in new tank, or genetic problem.
*
WW less bite compared with Russian Campbell (RC). They bite everytime unless u tame them since baby. I've sold my RC to petshop coz its always bite me even when i trying to feed it last time. The pet owner offer me RM9 for 1 RC but i trade with hamster food

You'll be more shocking if you see how they can climb the wheel without the wheel spin. shocking.gif  shocking.gif  shocking.gif Your muffin is small and he is light in his body weight. he can climb from the back of the wheel by climbing the stand and balance himself on top of the wheel and get grab to the bars on the lid, then get himself out from there. The bigger the hamster is, the more difficult for them to escape as they are heavy to climb and jump. They can jump up high to shock you also. Water bottle also might be another way for him to escape. Go buy a suction cap from those hardware shop, and tie the bottle to the suction cap with cable ties, then hang it outside the ZooZone2 where the place for you to hang the bottle. Then you can have one possibility less. They also will be very smart to stop the wheel from spinning by pushing bedding underneath the wheel or push the wheel to the wall and make it less spin-able.

yes solitary...also if not u will get unwanted pups before they really matured to have one. Breeding unmatured hamster will cause to canibalism and unhealty and low quality pups.

Yup. Empty and full of poo only   doh.gif

Now their house is not there anymore, they only sleep near the wheel..

Put a "rocket room" with tissue in it..never go inside it    shakehead.gif

Unlike my syrian..always collect the tissue then transfer to the other place    rclxms.gif

1 question here, usually syrian pregnant for 15 days right?
My syrian still not buncit2    rclxub.gif   13 days oredi
*
My syrian have 16 days pregnant period from the time they mate. The calculation of days is mostly correct. Most syrian will buncit their stomach at 10 days of pregnancy. I think your syrian not pregnant yet. Try to mate it again..hehe..

If they mate...Is that mean my hummy still not pregnant?
*
Pregnant situation can happen but depend on how old is the female. The best is 3 months and above. Don't ever try to mate young syrian below 3 months old. Another thing...pls dont mate the female just after it deliver pups. Pls wait until 3 month +++ then u can mate it again. Let it rest coz it need to have a normal live same as human lorr..

yeah..i agreed. Today, my pups are 15 days old. Eyes not open yet but already eating and crawling around the cage. Lat time my female hamster delivered 5 pups but 3 alive until now. 2 dead during deliver. Maybe the mother first experience. The female is 3 months + old.

Since the day they born, I covered the cage with newspaper and look at the cage until 10days. Every morning just put food and top up water only. I just do that...

They will fight if u place them together coz they are from different breed. Robo is much more aggressive than WW.
