That's the one of the pet shop we have visited before. Near Jusco have 1-2, near MGS also got another shop. The seller who told you there's non syrians in Ipoh, he/she is lying. I bought syrians from Ipoh before and saw so many even rare colors there as well.

Let's go hamsters and pet shops hunting in Ipoh!!!!!! icon_idea.gif  icon_idea.gif  icon_idea.gif
Remember to look for Breeder Celect by yourself, do not tell the seller you looking for hamster's bedding, or else they'll only show you wood shavings. Tell them you want something for cat to pee and poo called Breeder Celect and look out for the green colored packing.
*
I have bought myself a Syrian from that pet shop , but it's still small though. Not sure if it's big enough to be rare as pet. It's around 7cm only.
I'm not sure they scare me or what , he doesnt seems want come out and play with me , Besides that , I'm also not sure if he knows how to drink the water from the water feeder as the seller put the water in a bowl.

Please help.
I bought Vitakraft bedding small pack , Delikate food , and britter bunny at the moment.

Should I bring him out and put him on my palm instead ? Will it stress him further ? sad.gif

I started by holding the water feeder and putting it right in front of them when they are playful. At first they'll think its some kind of chew-toy...but when their mouth is near the opening, I squeeze some water out bit by bit. By that night itself, I can hear them drinking from the water feeder on their own smile.gif Bear in mind that this technique can spoil the water feeder fast if you do it too often. Mind did sweat.gif

The problem is , they scare the enviroment now , I mean , I did that and he dint try even lick it , he just run away.

Andy,

Please take out the newspapers. The ink used in our newspapers are harmful to small animals if digested.

Just leave Muffin alone for a few days to get used to his new environments first before handling. Or else he will stress more.

He is scared means he is not tamed yet. So it will take patience to tame the lil fella. You can try hand feeding in a few days time when he has calm down in his new home.

To train Muffin how to drink from the water feeder you can add a few drops of Ribena in the water. Let him taste a bit and he will learn to drink from it soon.

You should add fresh veges to his diet now since he is still young. He can still grow bigger in size. You can try the list of food that Nezu posted.
*
Blurjoey,

Thanks for your advised . I'll take the newspaper out later on and I will feed muffin the water when he get used to the enviroment.
There's large size syrian there , too bad their coat not really nice but fluffy until very messy look. nod.gif
I'll buy some fresh veggies from the market later on. smile.gif

Is there any other beginner must know guide ?

Thanks.

Your muffin is still less than 1 month old or slightly a bit older than 1 month (5 weeks maybe). Still very young syrian. The wheel is a bit too small for syrian if it's for permanently. Try get a bigger one. Give him as much fresh veges as possible. Almost all kind of veges can feed except onions, garlic, citric food like lemon, orange,... you can get the list in the first page. Too bad you are in Ipoh, or else I'll strongly encourage you to buy Nutri Smoothie. I can help if I go back to Ipoh, you can notice he will grow big and healthy with fresh food. It's a MUST for fresh food, ok. Leave Muffin for few days till he is not trying to dig here and there, jumping beside the wall of the tank trying to get out. I hope he is not so scared till he scream. Do update us on Muffin. Seems your ZooZone2 is a bit too big for him...HAHAHA....
*
Thanks for telling me the age of my hamster , I forgot to ask the seller though. blush.gif The wheel is a temporary wheel , I have order Wodent wheel Sr and I'll make my payment tomorrow so roughly I'm going to get it around on tuesday. So basically , I can go buy rojak and feed Muffin yea ? laugh.gif *without the sauce for sure.
What about Pineapple ? blush.gif
I do put some of the old bedding from petshop inside my cage , is that okay ? There's even poo on it. doh.gif
Muffin is living in Extra large Bungalow. laugh.gif
Anyway , It's too bad that my syrian is not tame yet else it'll be more fun to spend time with.
Patience is the key ? All-rite. biggrin.gif

QUOTE(sangels @ Oct 10 2008, 07:26 PM)
Pineapple better not as it is citric food, sourish. I only guess the age of your hamster as it looks really small and young. Even if you ask the seller, I bet they may not know also or they'll simply tell you. The fluffy hamsters you saw in pet shop is long haired syrians, male syrian will tend to have longer hair than female. I think you better get the Wodent Wheel Jr instead of Sr as Muffin is not too big. Wodent Sr if tall and they are smart to climb out of the cage with the wheel stand and all. Since you no yet order, get the Jr. Better give leaf veges as they love it so much, you can buy a packet of salad from supermarket and feed. like I said, we can give a lot as we can keep a lot of fresh food in our fridge. You can change all the bedding as the pet shop always provide pine wood shaving which is bad for them. Get everything new and let him get used to it with time.
*
But still , if you ask me to estimate the age of Muffin , I couldn't tell you for sure. Muffin now is in the size of Robo and I'm going to pump it till chubby chubby. laugh.gif
I read that Sr is not really recommend for hamster , but I might going for Gerbils or hedgehog in the future , so I think Sr is a better choice for me since the price gap between Jr and Sr is just very little.
Anyway , going out for dinner , getting some rojak fruits for my Muffin! drool.gif

Muffin's cute but he still scare of me though.
I went back today and quickly go to the cage and look at Muffin , he was eating anyway , then he look like stun there staring at me , then slowly sneak here and there back to below the wheel there. blush.gif

Btw! Would it still be okay if I get 2 female WW's instead of just one? Not sure about the idea of having one alone though...

*
If I'm not mistaken , Robo is the only breed that can mix together.
Getting two same sex is good thing as it wont have any unplanned pregnancy. biggrin.gif

Please correct me if I'm wrong , I'm just learning here.

After I check my baby's picture when they are still young, I noticed your Muffin is about 3 weeks old only. I look at the size of his body and the size of the wheel, then I know roughly how big is his size. So, Muffin is still less than 1 month old, you still can pump him as much as you can and make him grow. Young hamster can be tame if you spend more time to talk to him and then later on handling him. Try talk to him with the lid open, to let him get usde of your voice and smell. Then slowly try to touch him when he is more settle down, remember don't stress him now.

so envious of you got a good camera... can take nice pic.. do you open flash? how to make it so bright and clear? is it possible to take so clear photo with normal 7.0 mega camera? blush.gif
*
Yes , I do switch on flash.
Anyway , A sharp/clear pictures very much depend on the camera itself.
Megapixels are about the picture size , many people misunderstand about it.

Your camera is able to take great picture aswell . There's actually many manipulations on a picture.
High Iso with lots of noise is a problem where most of the P&S camera suffers. biggrin.gif

Try tune up the expose to 1 stop in your camera , who know if it helps ?

Andy, your muffin is so cute! You just brought it home? sweat.gif Sorry, been off a while so didn't follow thread.
*
Yeps , I just bought it home. Muffin is so small yet , very scare of me. blush.gif
But now he seems like get used to the place already. wub.gif

I placed the Zoozone2 outside my room , thus the ventilation might be bad when my door closes as there's only one fan in the toilet to suck out all the smell , , hope he's comfortable. smile.gif

Taking picture is same like rearing hamster , patience is the only key to get everything perfect. I waited there , climbing high and low for those shot. laugh.gif

QUOTE(Jamien @ Oct 10 2008, 11:35 PM)
lol, edwin, congratulations. What breed of hamsters? Separated the male yet?

@Andy: smile.gif Well, if there's air and food as well as some ventilation your Muffin will be fine. Have your started taming your Muffin yet?
*
But I think the air ventilation over there is bad , I think I must get a table fan soon. blush.gif
I'm trying my best to tame Muffin , I just start rearing Muffin today.

Just now I hand Muffin the sunflowerseed , he took it from me , it's so cute. wub.gif
But the second time , he seems a little bit scare already. blush.gif

I know I can do it. laugh.gif

Andy, don't give too much sunflower seeds. It may look cute for him to eat it but other food which is healthier also can ma. Sunflower is so fattening.

I think you check your Muffin first. If the fur looks sweaty and oily means the ventilation is bad. Otherwise, it's fine lo.

smile.gif He'll come to trust you. Love = Patience  + Sacrifice. Try your best!

Which post which post? So many previous post. BTW where you get your Muffin from?
*
I bought a big pack of Delikate food , it includes sunflower seed inside and Muffin is only eating sunflower seed , I will wait him finish all other food before adding in more food. biggrin.gif

I'll try to check on him now , after that gotta hit my sack already. nod.gif
Thanks for the tips. biggrin.gif

take out the sunflower seeds. He/she (i forgot what sex your hamster is) will be forced to eat the other foods. then later slowly put in the sunflower seeds bit by bit. Thats what I did for my Kiki. The petstore only gave it to eat kuaci. When i fed it harry hamster, it didnt eat anything else.

Thanks for the advise , will try it out later.

robos, being the smallest of dwarves, of course eat the least lo. They, like any other living being, eat the food they prefer first, so you just adjust lor. My robos could eat 1 whole piece of dark leafy greens each la.

BTW i don't recommend feeding brocolli. They will produce a lot of gas in the stomach.
