I got 2 robos. One jz died 2day this afternoon. So sad sad.gif .
While i bathin them, suddenly 1 overturn and few seconds not moving anymore. I guess is the water enter its ear and blocks its breathing.
The question is now i oni left 1 robo in my cage. They r 2gether since small, which r around 3 months.
Now he/she is alone. Will he feel lonely in d the cage. Do i nid to buy another robo to accompany him. Coz usually both of them used sleep, eat and play 2gether.
Also, if i bought one robo, will they able to live 2gether peaceful?
Must i match wif male/female or male/female or vice versa?

anyone here tried growing their own fresh grass for hamsters? tongue.gif
just saw this product at Pet Safari...they give you seed and some cotton (I presume as a replacement for baja). Then after the grass grows, you can cut it off and feed your hamster.

blink.gif Err... Just to let you know. Hamsters, any type of hamsters, should never be given a bath. They don't bath in the wild. And bathing is super super stressful so we don't give baths unless absolutely necessary like an emergency.

And from the sound of it... Your robo flipped over, and drowned in the water... I had an emergency before which required me to bath my robo cuz she was injured and her butt area was crusted with dirt and blood and poo and pus and i dunno what else. I had to clean her up in case an infection sets in at her butt. When they touch water, even if it's just a little and covers only their toes, they flip over. They go into panic and flip and struggle etc etc. They can drown in super shallow water if your robo flips on its back. I know it sounds a little cruel but as an owner you should have held your ham firmly to prevent drowning. In fact, you shouldn't have bathed them at all. Bathing sand is made for that purpose. sad.gif

Before buying another, I sincerely hope you read up. Yes robos get along well with one another but you have to at least have basics to care for your ham. If you wish to buy another, please sex your ham and buy another robo of the same gender. Inbreeding rates are really bad and you might end up with pups that are blind, missing limbs, thinning fur, etc etc.

@jamince: smile.gif Your daddy ham will be fine. When the babies grow up, you can put his sons with him so he doesn't get lonely lor. his daughters will stay with mum. Separate kelantan style. This way, no accidental pregnancies and no inbreeding.

sigh. That's the thing. They call it "small animal shampoo" then stick a picture of a syrian on the front. It really misleads people. but as responsible owners, we should find out what can and cannot be done to our hamsters right... Anyone who researched will know. Bathing is a big no no.

regarding your grass, i haven't tried before but am interested. tongue.gif How about you try first and let us know how it goes?

Hamsters don't need to bath. If they smell, it's usually cuz your upkeep of its cage not so clean. So makes your ham smell.

smile.gif Sand bath is ok. Hamsters have a natural tendency to dig and burrow. They will know how to use the bathing sand. It removes dirt and grime from their fur. But srians don't need a sand bath. they groom themselves most often.

@odd_mochi: I feel is how you feed. If they've never eaten fresh food before, suddenly you give a lot they will sure get diarrhea. Slowly increase the amount. Let them get used to fresh food. Let their body get used to digesting the fresh.

smile.gif But you still have to provide dry food la. Nuts are part of their dirt.
