Hi, as I don't really know much about bedding, I've been using Chipsi Green Apple for some time alrdy. Will my hamster fall sick becoz of this bedding? If I change to Chipsi Classic after I finished the Green Apple 1 will it be too late? Hope you guys can help.

Maybe beddings should be written is huge letters on the front page since it is a common issue.

A lot of places only supply cheapo stuff.

Yups.... chipsi mainly uses fir and spruce, but sometimes pine also termasuk coz these woods are all soft woods. On their pack, they just print soft wood. I have been smelling alot of wood shavings for the past years... and I can only trust Chipsi and Delikate coz so far the phenol smell is not as bad as other brands. All of the cheap woodshavings are not so safe for our animals. That's why some people go for corncob or the recycled newspaper bedding. My hamsters are using Healthy Pet and Breeder Celect now.... I can see their health is much better, fur grow longer, then they are easier to potty train.

my hamsters have been clearing up the bedding before sleeping for a few days now. Although they put some of the bedding in front of the upper floor house, not inside...no idea why. Is it because they don't like the scent?

btw, what do you think about Woody Pet bedding?

you don't need to be a biologist to know about these things. Just learn it by doing lots of research. There are more elites in other subforums, you just haven't seen them.

I using it, good product, if you use it for hamster can last you very very long time cos hamster pee amount is lesser. If you wood shaving is another good choice too, I am using Chipsi Classic too, 1 month about 15kg -+.

Hahhaha.. ya 15kg per month chipsi classic, so I stock up like a chipsi warehouse biggrin.gif For less then 5 hamsters of cause won't use 1 bag(3.6kg) of chipsi classic per month la. And some more I am using TOGETHER with woody pet to 'help up' the suction...

really can bankrupt if really 15kg per month.. 1 week=3.75kg..
1 day = 0.536kg.. that is half a kilo per day..
wahaha

ya lor, but to maintain your pet health and hygiene, this part cannot be save. If you only have small amount of hamster, 1 bag of 3.6kg of chipsi classic can last you very very long already, so won't bankrupt la. laugh.gif

I used to use Living World pine bedding because that's what most petshops use for their hamsters *shrugs*. But since many hammie owners advocate pine-free bedding, I switched to Breeder Celect. But I hated it because the color is horrid (dark gray) and it's not exactly dust-free as mentioned in the website. And my Bella had trouble running around on hard pellets.

Now I switch to using disposable paper towels that you can buy in a huge roll (exactly the same as those you find in hotel toilets, you pull pull pull the dispenser handle and tear as much off as you like haha). I just line the base of the cage with two layers of paper towers every week. I don't have to worry about pine, Bella moves easier on the smooth surface and she enjoys shredding the paper, so it's all good. smile.gif

Not too sure how much it cost because my mother bought the paper towels for kitchen use even before I had my hamster (which shows how long one huge roll can last!).

I can't advise you where to buy in KL, because I am in Kuching. But I know my mother bought it from a shop that sells Kimberly-Clark, Kleenex and Scott paper and toilet items.

You go to http://www.thefind.com/office/info-roll-towel and look at the picture for Kleenex® Non-Perforated Hard-Roll Paper Towel. It looks exactly like that.

Cheras do not have good pet shop selling hamsters. Syrian is a good hamster to start off as a newbie. Do read up the first page to have more info on how to take care and etc. I'm currently having 6 Syrians and 1 fat tailed gerbil, house is like pet shop already. blush.gif
