Hello guys. I'm looking for some advice on which Wireless broadband provider would be good (or if not, remotely viable) for playing WoW in Semenyih. I'm a student at the University of Nottingham and I'll be living at the off-campus accommodation, which has no phone line so getting wired internet is unfortunately not an option.

I've heard many good things and bad things about Maxis/Celcom wireless that I don't really know what to believe. I've heard of other alternatives but I'm not sure what they are (I heard about izzi or something). I am FULLY aware that wired will always be better than wireless but its not an option. And as for what I'm going to do in WoW, it'll be just solo questing and BGs mostly. I don't care about raiding or instances. So yeah.... LFM Advice

Thanks in advance. Oh and please don't tell me I shouldn't be gaming in uni tongue.gif I know my limits and I'm only going to be playing casually in my free time. There aren't exactly many forms of entertainment on campus so yeah...

You can check with izzi, may be your best bet as there have been weird stories on Maxis and Celcom wireless broadband either charging insane amounts or capping your download after hitting your max monthly limit (you can ask their support team, read the contract, etc. for clarification).

Casual playing won't be too bad using wireless (I think). But if you plan to do BG using wireless, you may suffer if:

1) If you want to play arenas (2v2, 3v3 or 5v5), every individual counts so you have to be quick. Lagging would kill you and your team
2) If you play BG, prepare to face constant lag

Anyway, best entertainment on campus: get a chic brows.gif

usually wireless ping is unstable.. except at home you install your wireless router which is just meter away from you tongue.gif

i tried outside where wireless signal strength is at full, but the ping very unstable leh.. sometimes high sometimes down, which makes your movement in online game even more frustrated..

I'm in same situation as you are, and the only wireless option that seems to be good enough is p1 Wimax. I've not tried it yet though. Too bad my area (Kota Damansara) has no Wimax coverage yet.
