hi peeps.. my iphone 2G (2.0.1) has poor wi-fi performance at my home. i was getting just 120+ kbps at home with my streamyx 512, while my WM device last time can easily gets full speed at 400+ kbps. (tested using iphonenetworktest)

i had brought my iphone to other hotspots like starbucks and Mcd, suprisingly i got a much more better speed at 300+ kbps even it is a public wi-fi. youtube is alot FASTER, it does not even buffer. while at home, i have to let it load and wait for about 3mins for a 4mins clip before i can play. some clips even showed "clip cannot be opened" ohmy.gif

so i was wondering is it my modem's settings at fault? i was using WEP security. i have tested the following but my iphone is still slow.

- turn off any security mode
- switched from wifi b/g to wifi b only
- switched from wifi b/g to wifi g only
- turned off all firewall.

btw, i am using Belkin ADSL2+ modem.

any idea how to get my iphone's wi-fi working with full speed? cool.gif

no there isn't any other device sharing the bandwidth. i tried youtube with the same clip on both my pc and iphone. i can watch the clip very smooth without waiting on buffering on my pc, but on the iphone, it is very SLOW... almost unwatchable.

Hi!
Having the same problem with a 2G OZ iphone 2.2 firmware.

And i am using static ip and even using DMZ to boost the strength of the wifi.
Still i am getting high ping and frequent time out from the iphone ip ping test.

do you all having poor wi-fi performance at all places? i am facing it only when i am connected with my home Belkin ADSL wireless router.

if the problem occurs everywhere.. i would suggest for RMA. iphone's wi-fi performance is well recognized as a fast one.

Streamyx currently doing upgrading with no due date issue. Everytime calling the hotline always say UPGRADING UPGRADING. Hear liao also very tired. Indeed the line is very slow if u connected to ip start with 124, 118 or others. Try to get ip start with 60.52 or 60.53. Use ur Speedtest(Free apps) in ur iphone to test it. I got this ips with 800+kbps dl speed with my 1mbps package.

deteceting a hotspot or wifi connection available? If hotspot such as streamyx hotspot, u need a username and password to log in of coz need $$. if starbucks or coffee bean free wifi. should be not an issue. I tried with my iphone in those places even KFC also provide free wifi to me with no problem.

If problem like cannot connect to desired wifi, reset the network setting.

Oh ya.. I had encountered a strange problem. If the wifi router is connected to the modem and show in the iphone but iphone wifi icon doesnt show up, it means that the internet is not connected. I tried with my belkin n1 vision, linksys wifi router. It doesnt wanna connect the wifi until the internet is up.
