Q. What is an Unlock File (a .unl file)?
A. An Unlock File is a back up system.
Once you have installed your unlock code(s), you can save them into an unlock file. To do this, follow these step-by-step instructions:
1. Open MapSource.
2. Open the Unlock Wizard (either with CTRL + U or under "Utilities/Unlock Maps"). Click "Next".
3. Under the section that states "If you are an existing Garmin customer", choose "Backup my unlock codes to a file". Click "Next".
4. Save this file to a separate location where you can find it later (for example, "My Documents").
In the event you have to uninstall MapSource and have a locked MapSource product, you can retrieve any unlock codes by reinstalling MapSource and opening this file.
To reinstall your unlock codes using MapSource, follow these step-by-step instructions:
1. Open MapSource.
2. Open the Unlock Wizard (either with CTRL + U or under "Utilities/Unlock Maps"). Click "Next".
3. Under the section that states "If you are an existing Garmin customer", choose "Retrieve and reinstall all my unlock codes". Click "Next".
4. Choose "Retrieve my unlock codes from a file on my PC". Click "Next".
5. Point your computer to where you saved the .unl file previously. Choose it and follow the prompts.
Now that we've cleared that up, any further discussion on HACKING the unl file for piracy purposes shall be dealt with accordingly.
I do however, thank the vigilant members who tried to do the right thing. Its just a misunderstanding, and i hope everyone can
