Both my 3G iphones are upgraded to firmware 2.1.
and both are working fine compared with the old firmware 2.0.2.
2.1 really improves alot and can say its like 99.9% lag free...
Did u install too many apps or did u jailbreak it?
Both of mine and jailbreak free so they work prefect.
Cheers.

@ twinkles
i encounter this problem when i was using the first gen iphone. what i usually do is just to restore again (on the assumption that the previous restoration didn't go too smoothly)
maybe you wanna try my suggestion if all fails?

of course it's up to TS. but sometimes restoration (despite going through the verifying step on itunes), it may not be flawless.

when it gets progressively close to its maximum space capacity, i do feel like tossing the device through the window.

let me transfer mine here:
@ twinkles
i have already personally "played" with three aifontrigis on 2.1. there is no lag or what so ever. hence there must be a problem with your firmware. however on the safer side, i do recommend, re-downloading a freshly baked firmware.
which country of origin is your iphone?

Isn't lagging when entering settings is normal ? My friend(iPhone 1st gen) and I(iPhone 3G) have gone through 2.0.1 --> 2.0.2 ---> and now 2.1, I found out that all of them have a couple seconds lag which I can bare.
Tumpang thread TS, how long does the loading take for you guys when you swtich on the phone and entering springboard ? Mine is almost 30 seconds after updating to 2.1. Normal ?

@ Jermaine
like many OS (not confining to iphones alone), startup times is dependent a lot on the number of apps/contents that you have inside.
i'm (2.1) currently ultilising only 50% of my capacity and it loads to springboard in less than 18seconds.

I would say that is normal and fast, coz mine take more than a minute (probably because of those jailbroken apps that loads at startup) 30sec is even faster than my MBP start up time This post has been edited by psyeo: Sep 16 2008, 11:03 PM

I would reckon the reason why entering Settings lags is because of the apps installed. Go ahead, open Settings now, what's underneath "Photos"? The apps own individual settings. Even while opening setting, scroll down to the very bottom, you will see the message " Loading Applications..." before the individual settings of the apps you have installed appears.
Give and take, people. Apple dont work miracles.

Thanks for the input guys, appreciate it. Yeah, I guess it all depends. Anyway, now I don't switch off my phone as much now. Really can't wait to play with my iPhone once I hold it in my hands.

Mine non jb and 2.1...boot up takes 30 seconds and I am happy with it In terms of lagging, it is noticeable while opening SMS but very slight lag only. Same goes for CONTACTS. 2.1 had been pretty stable, since upgraded so far no hang.
