With a level 60 mage experience under my belt , I can say that if u want to roll a mage, be prepared to have a mindset where u don't ever want to get touched by melee if you want to succeed. Unlike other classes where their main defense is armor (passive defence) , the mage survives with an active defence capability.

This means that you have to actively counteract other classes with spells and abilities, much more so than any other classes since mages have no healing ability whatsoever and have the weakest armor.

You are a favorite target in battlegrounds amongst other classes, even against other mages since you die easiest and deal damage the hardest (I leave that part up for speculation) .

More often than not I keep hearing that mages are the hardest class to excel at, since each class you fight requires a radically different approach. Using the same strategy to kill a warrior as you would a priest will get you killed more often than not.


P.S Dota is by no means an "MMORPG". MMORPG stands for Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game. Which means you control one character in one world where there is usually hundreds, if not thousands of people playing in the same world at the same time .

Dota is a custom map/game mode made for warcraft III that got popular.
