QUOTE This diy is best done on a hot sunny day. Material : 1. 1-2 can of paint spray(colour depend on personal taste and best if can buy heat resistant spray) 2. 1 can of clear coat spray 3. Size 17 ring spannar & hammer 4. Brush 5. A bucket of clean water 6. Newspapers 7. Handglove (Optional-Only use it if you don't wanna make your hands dirty) Step 1:Loosen ur rim nut but don't totally remove it. You might need to step on wrench to loosen the nut Step 2:Use the car jack to jack up your car. Then remove the nut and rims. Step 3:Lets say you're doing on the driver side of the caliper first, then turn ur steering until the driver side brake is facing outward. Use the size 17 spanner to unlock the lower nut(see pic below). You might need to use some force on the spanner as the nut is locked tightly. A hammer comes in handy in such situation. After that slide the caliper upward to remove the metal plate and the brake pad. Step 4:Brush your caliper with clean water till the caliper is totally clean. You can apply some degreaser or car wash to make it cleaner. Then leave it to dry under hot sun or use a blower to let it dry faster Step 5:Cover all parts you don't wish to spray with newspaper and make sure they are covering the parts properly else you might spray on parts you don't wanna spray. Step 6:Spray 3-4 thin layer of spray paint to the caliper. Once you sprayed a layer on it,leave it totally dry before you spray another to it. Step 7:After you satisfied with the colour, spray 1-2 layer of clear coat to the caliper. Same thing, let one layer dry before you spray another layer to it. Step 8:After the clear coat is totally dry,put back you brake pad and the metal in place. If you unsure how to install it back try seeking help from people who are familiar with car parts. Step 9:Lock nut back to the caliper and make sure you tighten it tightly. Put back your rim and tighten the rim nut. Step 10:Repeat step 1-9 on the other side and you're done. Photo: ![]() Removed the rim and nuts ![]() Turn the steering until the brake is facing outward to make your work easier ![]() Size 17 ring spanner ![]() Unlock the nut showed on the pic. ![]() Leaving the caliper to dry after being cleaned. ![]() The final result. Here's a guide i posted b4 in team swap forum |
