i would've bought this processor instead of E7200 but it wasn't out yet that time. 1 week later only came out.

but my E7200 can do 425Mhz. brows.gif

QUOTE(seanlimys @ Nov 12 2008, 07:25 PM)
both proc is really totally different architecture...price to performance ratio for both thgs are totally out of the way...sure if we hav extra budget...y we oni wanna go for e7200 retail? better go for e8400 oem...l2 cache is the thg that made the price so much different
*
E5200 = Wolfdale
E7200 = Wolfdale

so you were saying totally different architecture?

QUOTE(maxburnz @ Nov 13 2008, 02:50 AM)
l2 really improve a lot in performance?
but value for money then means e5200 wins rite?
more L2 cache meaning when the situation need it, you have the advantage.

stock vs stock, you must remember that while the E5200 is same architecture as E7200 the difference is in the
1. Cache
2. FSB

so clock vs clock, the E7200 is the faster one. (if you still can get it la. if not then E7300 lor).

E5200 vs E7200, so which is better performance overall?

the one that cost more of course performs better.

and i highlighted already in the earlier post, E7200 has more cache and higher FSB for the same clock speed, so YES it's better!

I just noticed the Dual Core series is still called Pentium Dual Core??? i tot pentium obsolete alredi,  hmm.gif

don't go by name. smile.gif it's just the name Pentium, to indicate the lower range. just as how the E2xxx series was.

take note of what jinaun mentioned.

E2xxx are based on Conroe, the E6xxx processors. Hyper-threading stopped at the P4 series, now introduced in the Core i7 series.

lets ask Ryaz Patel to tell us why Intel didnt enable dem...actually if C2D/Q had HT, i7 wouldnt sell off like hot cakes..HT is i7's main selling feature...but still E5200 is Pentium Architecture..why dun haf HT lerh..reason simple = Intel kiam siap
it was named Pentium but the architecture is of the Core series.

yeah, even the earlier gen PDC were Conroe. smile.gif some how Intel decided to have it named Pentium for the low end.

There's the Celeron E1xxx based on Allendale, same as the E4xxx series.

Celeron has been around for ages.

The most popular Celeron was the 300A. biggrin.gif 300mhz OCed to 450mhz. 50% OC. I only have the 333 and 400.

Those days Celeron were a hit, people bought Celeron instead of Pentium III because (based on my really really old information entry) they had on-die cache while Pentium III's cache was off-die. so the Celeron when OCed to equivalent P3 speed, can do faster. smile.gif

Even P4 days had Celeron. Pentium was the top of the consumer line, Celeron for the lower range.

Nowadays it's Core / Pentium / Celeron.

ahhh. something like that. btw off-topic a bit - computer shop in Taiping? biggrin.gif if got then, next time i drop by Taiping can visit.

Added on April 25, 2009, 1:26 ambut really, we're straying from the E5200 topic. Allendale you can see in E4xxx series. read the reviews on them la. smile.gif
