Gah, don't mind if I let out my frustrations here as well. On 2.2 like the rest of you, also sick of the CallerID issue. Been following up day-by-day on the Hackint0sh and MMi IRC channels for days now. Finally got one of the mods irritated enough, apparently because he was sick of seeing me ask and yet he couldn't prove me wrong because Googling obviously didn't help, debated over the 2 different fixes (PLIST and mass-adding prefixes) for a good half an hour, left banned and kicked for 'insulting someone trying to help'. Oh well, justice these days. I share your pain, guys. P.S. There's new hope. Apparently, a Brazillian coder noticed my dilemma and contacted my on the Hackint0sh channels to comfort me, mentioning a proper PLIST fix coming from him soon, as Brazil's also bogged down by this. Cheers, guys.

That's precisely the sentiments I expressed in there, but apparently to them, it's being lazy and hence unjustified to wait and ask for help.... Does everyone in the friggin United States add country codes in front of their contact numbers? Just proving a point here....

Unless you were there, you shouldn't be using the phrase 'harping' because following up and harping are 2 very different approaches. "Anyone found a fix for the 2.2 Caller ID yet?", twice a day is not harping. You'd be surprised how many of them don't realize that such an issue exists, and how simple it is to edit the PLIST to anyone with a basic understanding of the format, AKA half of them in there. Hence it's important to ask and hopefully get the message through to someone in there who just might be able to help. I do, however, share your intentions of editing the PLIST myself, but the lack of a PLIST editor on my Windows machine right now isn't helping at all. And FYI, my constant 'harping' caught the attention of the Brazilian coder I mentioned earlier, who is apparently working on it now. Patience is one thing, but sitting there doing nothing while waiting for something to appear out of thin air is something else altogether. I hope you recognize that. Thanks. Will not pursue this further.

QUOTE(Maverick Wil @ Nov 26 2008, 05:03 AM) Ah I apologise for my wrong choice of wording but I got that impression when you mentioned a half hour debate session. I do agree with you that we can't sit on our asses waiting for it to drop in our laps. I do acknowledge that we have to ask before we can receive which is why I also contacted the developers of CallerFix ID yesterday regarding our country's number formats in order to help speed up the process for us. By the way, I am going to upload a plist editor for windows here for anyone who'd like to give it a go. Very small file. You can download the file here. (file is zipped .rar) I have it, thanks. I've figured out half of the puzzle right now. Apparently the 2 files below are the menaces which need to be modified now. For Number Formatting : System/Library/Frameworks/UIKit.framework/PhoneFormat/UIDefaultFormat.phoneformat
For Caller ID : System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/AppSupport.framework/Default.phoneformatBoth are the same files. Only thing is, these both used to be in PLIST form, but since 2.1 Apple turned them into raw binary. Anyone with some hex knowledge would know how to work around this. All I know at this point is that someone with 0xED should be able to read this file, then it involves editing something along the address for Malaysia formats. That's as much as I've managed to pool up right now, but the Brazilian's getting pretty close to the international fix.

QUOTE(Siilver @ Nov 26 2008, 02:09 PM) Anyone realize they have removed CallerIDFix Collection and replaced it with CallerIDfix for 2.1? Funny thing is, it still doesnt work on the default text system. You might wanna read up on the past 2-3 pages about that. In any case, it's publicly known right now that the old fixes up till 2.1 aren't working anymore as Apple has converted the original PLIST files we used to modify with the older fixes, into a harder-to-edit binary form. Right now you could opt to either mass add the +6 prefixes to your contacts as a long term solution (please refer to the 1st post), or you could join us on the waiting list for the updated CallerID patch to be released. P.S. Right now a fix has been released for Lebanon ONLY. It'll be some time before they manage to bring in all the other different countries.
