@vivaldi & goldieboy

No overheating issue except it gets a bit hot sometimes when syncing/restoring. What problems do you have accessing apps? Give a bit more details.

Without more information than you're giving, I assume the problem with Cydia is because of a bad connection or because repo servers are busy. Keep trying or try at a different time.

Yup, that would be a connection problem. If you're sure your connection is ok, then it's usually the repo servers being jammed up.

@ Maverick...

For example... When the phone is in sleep mod... it will be fine. No overheating... and battery maintain at 70%...but when I try to access apps like googlemap, safari, Cydia...Youtube... even for 5 minutes...the phone will get warm and drain the battery from 70% to 60%....but I don see any heating problem when accesing sms or Notes though...weird...

@vivaldi...what firmware are you using? 2G or 3G? And what do you use to access internet (wifi/3g/edge) when this occurs?

@frequency, you can refer to the tutorials on page 1

@vivaldi, this seems typical of the expected battery life looking at your usage. The phone does get warm when accessing the Internet so as long as it doesn't get too hot it is normal.

3G and Edge will suck the battery life dry very quickly. I noticed davidgary just posted up a link while I was typing this. You should have a read there.

Using the phone at places where the signal are week could be a culprit also. The phone need to use more battery power to boost up the signal. 3G signal also known to suck up the juice real fast. You're phone 'overheat' when only using the apps that uses 3G/EDGE shows that its taking extra effort to pull the signal. Try using it at a place known for a good signal reception. It might reduce the overheating and battery drain.

Hey I just did an upgrade to 2.2 form a 2.1 iPhone 2G. Works fine, however Cydia refuses to load (from my understanding it should at least work). It will open up then ask if you are user/hacker/etc. but after i select anything it will crash and return to home screen.

I used pwange tool from iClarified and did it on an old Macbook (worked fine for FW2.1). And did a second restore. same issue. Anyone having the same problems and anyway I might be able to get Cydia at least partially working?

Can I use Quickpwn to re-jailbreak?

Thanks

Added on November 27, 2008, 10:23 pmDisaster averted! Apparently in my infinite wisdom i used PT 2.2 instead of 2.2.1. Caused me an evening of hair pulling. Serves me right for not reading further.

Restored using Pwnage Tool 2.2.1. Managed to get it working.

Shout out to Nokia 2003 and DavidGary73 for their willingness to spend time helping me out. Thanks guys!!!
