I have maxis 8gb set. Still virgin. 2.2.1 and baseband 2.30.
So, if let say i just want to JB only, and i'm not planning to unlock it, am i still able to use my maxis sim card? And also, am i be able to use my iphone?

when u press backup, it wud show backing up for few secs, then done
next when u sync with ur pc, it wud save da info n when u re-jb, download tis app first n press restore...
it wud do da rest...done

Ok. Now my iphone is officially JB. But it wasnt a smooth ride. Have to do it twice. First time, stuck at apple logo. then enter DFU, restore back, then JB again, and..... walla. Its done. Thanks to nokia for your helpful guide regarding the stuck problem. still not sure why it happen. any idea anyone?

I have countless error msg on 1602 whenever i try to store the iPhone1,1_2.2.1_5H11_Restore.ipsw into my phone.

I read thru many solution of but still i can't get thru it. i uninstall/redownload itunes 8.1.1, iPhone1,1_2.2.1_5H11_Restore.ipsw,..etc but still the same error.

Currently i'm still at 1.1.4 trying to upgrade to the 2.2.1.

Anyone can help me thru this error 1602 ?

i no sure, coz when i get my iphone is already in 2.2 firmware and i upgrade it to 2.2.1

Try use 2.2 1st ^^

Need help!!!

Just now want to unlock n jb my iphone..
b4 that my phone using turbo sim..during the restore(1st step to unlock)..everythg ok till the phone restart then on again, but cannot continue..itunes said the sim not supported..

huhu..

Try switching USB ports and proceed to restore(Hold shift and click restore) the firmware.

Another way is to rebooting the iPhone (hold HOME and Sleep simultaneously for 5 or so seconds). Then plug in your USB cable and restore.

i got a locked UK iphone 3G with FW 2.2.1, i try to check the baseband version by using WinSCP but it won't allow me to connect. Does it mean this iphone 3G from UK has the boot loader 6.02 too ?

If your iPhone is not jailbroken, you can't access the iPhone directory/system files.

If your iPhone is jailbroken, follow the guide provided on the first post @Downgrade baseband 2.30 to 2.28 Tutorial, Option 3.

hi davidgary,
a noob question, i wanna proceed to unlock/jb this UK locked set, but seems like i can't backup the sms & notes atm. Does the iTunes backup function can backup sms & notes too ? because there is no such directory as "var/mobile/library/xxxxxxx" view by using Diskaid or iphone browser. Is there any other way ? Thanks in advance ^^

if your iPhone 3G (of O2 UK origin) is indeed on 2.2.1, there is no point to jailbreak it for the sake of unlocking it via yellowsn0w.
