Hi Guys..

I’m having a Kancil 660, it’s quite old. Last time it was having a problem with hard to start the engine when morning time.. and sometimes the engine dead while driving but easy to start back again. After sometime the engine dead and found out that the battery is "kong", change the battery and everything is ok... that was 3 month back..

Lately(this few days) it having some problem with the engine... its like the engine is "semput" or "batuk" and easily dead.
I ask 1 of my friends he said maybe the carburetor is needed to be service.. and 1 of my friend told to overhaul the engine.

Car is not my area and I have little knowledge about it. I don’t want to send it straight away to workshop coz I know I will be easily "kena ketuk" with the pomen.. so I need you guys to advice me on the overhaul matter and also carburetor service (if it would solve my problem).

I think, the thing I need to know:
What is the cost for overhaul my kancil?
How long does it take?
Is there any hidden cost?
Should I overhaul my kancil?
What is the effect for overhaul, will solve my problems?
I live in gombak(Wangsamaju/Setapak/DanauKota), have any recommended workshop nearby?
anything else you may suggest..

in ur case, i dont think u need to overhaul ur engine... jz minor service to ur carburetor can adi... check ur engine tuning and carburetor tuning...

overhaul is needed when engine oil decrease alot due to leaky valve seal, piston ring and/or head gasket...

hundred plus mayb.... that cost is to dismantle the whole carburetor... clean it inside out and reinstall back + tuning....

if ur mechanic jz spray carb cleaner ontop of ur carburetor without removing the whole unit, give him 10bucks is more den enough...

buy decarbo..u can servics ur carb by ur own w/o dismantle it...

7-8 years. Re the mileage, i'm not sure...need to check tomorrow.

u may check following parts:

Distributor
Spark Plug
Ignition Coil
Spark Plug Cable

p/s: do a compression test, this test look simple. but then its helps me a lot. its often happen to my car.... no white/black smoke... but then the car very lembik very unstable idling...change the throttle body twice also the same... check compression... only ONE(1) of the piston ring koyak...like.. 3piston, one giving 5-6bar compression test put in engine oil on all over piston then giving back 12bar reading.. after a while start white smoke all clean.put back compression test meter.. its back to 5-6bar reading.. while other 2 giving something like above 12bar...
each piston got 3 layer ring. only ONE top ring patah..

Best for you to just buy a whole engine.I saw one selling in mudah.com.my for only RM500.include wiring etc.

That owner swap the engine with a L2S so he wanna sell the original kancil 660 engine

Aaaaa... im not quite follow...

From what you mention, the thing i know is Spark Plug & Spark Plug Cable.. - im sorry my fault.

Can you explain me what is Distributor, what the function, if need attention can it be repaired/service or it need to be replaced, how much is the cost, what to say to the mechanic,.....
Ignition Coil also i dont know..

The compression test part, it sound complicated..

bro,i'm driving a kancil also~
it's a 7yrs++ car wit ard 100k km done by me n yet my car haven't wen for overhaul yet~
i think u better go n have check up n diagnose ur car 1st~
i think either Spark Plug
Ignition Coil
Spark Plug Cable giving u prob~

the 1st thing to check is the distributor contact point..

common problem among kancil 660 carb engine..the cost of changing it would be below RM50 I believe..wouldn't be expensive and its really very common..its been 6 yrs since I thew my stock 660 engine so I'm not too sure how much it'd cost..just tell the mech to have a look at the contact point 1st..

Today i have ask this 1 guy to have a check and take my car to his workshop.. he 1st try my car and told this could be problem with the carburator... I give him RM200 (since in here said RM100++)..

Ok, he give back my car... he told he change the contact point & service the carburetor.

From my RM200 at 1st he give back to me RM140.. then i give him RM40 as upah...

Ok ah?

Now my car feel good..

wow..u r very generous..

Just checked, generally contact point for kancil cost about 20 bucks..with labour probably 30-40..plus carb servicing..I think he was charging pretty reasonable..
