Hello guys!! i am a newbie with compaq's and just purchase a cq20 125 tu..I have always been a Toshiba fan and been using this brand many years..recently while out looking for a replacement I came across the new range of compaq's cq series..i must say that compaq has really made some improvement on the quality of their products..I was impressed with the specs on the cq20 and the shop that I went to had only a display..so I went to Low lat and PJ digi mall and was suprised that none of them had stock, one of the shop at LY told me that compaq is downgradding the cq20 to a t5800..so I had not choice but to purchase the display unit at cineleisure mall..anyways, I'm very happy with my new purchase plus it doesn't run as hot as my Tosh..only the cooling fan and disc drive sounds a little louder compared..finishing seems to be quite good, one way to get finger prints from sticking on the shiny casing is that i use a little auto wax and it seem quite fingerprint proof and keeps it shiny and smooth..

I just did a clean install of my vista as I just found out that the tech guy at the IT shop i purchased installed wrong drivers, he gave me a copy of the drivers but I found that HP actually built in a file 'swsetup' folder in the c: with all the drivers necessary for my 125TU as mine came with free dos..the machine works perfectly now.. biggrin.gif

Help needed!!
Everytime I start my window, the following error msg box will pop up:
"Macrovision Software Manager Agent has stopped working
Windows can check online for a solution to the problem.
Option to choose:
Check online for a solution and close the program
or
Close the program"

Help me to eliminate the error as it has become very irritating now. Anyone please... sweat.gif

i reinstall my phone driver now it's ok....

btw... your CQ20 is using Intel PRO wireless or Broadcom?

mine is using Broadcom and it is not Intel Pro wireless as stated in the HP website
*
mine also broadcom..funny HP's website states differently..i think they want to keep price down, with intel the price will surely go above 3k..anyways by the time we can fully utilize wifi n..our laptop would be obsolete oredy..

the cq 20 light will show : amber - charging , white - almost full charge 90% and light will off once it is fully charged

its weird that compaq does not provide a user manual for this device..you can download a manual at HP website

Hi,

I just bought a unit of Compaq Presario CQ20, after few days of using, suddenly last night i tried to switch on but it can't.  I tried with battery, whenever i pressed on button, the orange light (with lightning sign) at the power adapter keep blinking, but failed to switch on.  I tried to plug in power cable also the same.  Anyone knows what is the problem?
*
when you plug it in, does the amber charge light come on? normally if the batt level is below 20% the device will not start hence blinking light..if the charge light does not light upon charging..then its your adapter..may i know what model cq20 did u get? mine is 125tu..

Thanks for the reply.  Mine is CQ20-213TU.  I wanted to buy the CQ20-125TU, but the shops told me no more stock, so i have to get the 213TU since i like the size and features.

Initially, i thought it's battery flat, so i plugged in the AC power adapter (with battery still attached), switched on power supply, then i pressed the ON button again, but the amber light keeps blinking also.  Then, when i took off the battery and plug in AC power adapter, try again, this time amber light did not appear.  So, what could be the problem?  It's my AC power adapter is it?

sounds like your AC, only way to find out is to take it to the service centre or the shop u purchased the device..can try another AC to confirm..
