Woot an official member of the Compaq Presario CQ Series Club now blush.gif Just bought a CQ20-125TU upgraded to 2GB of RAM and installed a genuine Vista Home Premium on it. Only 1 complaint which is the same as yu_wang:

The cover is too glossy for its own good. So many fingerprint marks on it already sweat.gif

As for the drivers I too had problems downloading at first but apparently I think its more due to browser problem. Couldn't download with firefox but IE no problem.

I've got a small problem with my CQ20. I've installed the webcam driver and its detected in the device manager as well but I don't know how to run it. Anyone got any idea how to run it? Thanks.

Yes for volume control. Once you have installed HP QuickTouch software it should work accordingly.

Ah lol need the QuickTouch software. No wonder it doesn't work. Thanks blush.gif

Damn the disk shrinking only works if you wanna make a new partition. You can't add the access space of a partition after shrinking onto another partition.

any CQ-20 users here? care to share the price, review....etc?

Bro the price if you buy online now is RM2509 for CQ20-125TU and RM2809 for CQ20-126TU. The only difference between both is 125TU is FreeDOS but 126TU comes with Vista Home Premium. But my advice is if you're interested just get the CQ20-125TU and buy the Vista Home Premium separately as you can get it for a lot less than RM300 well assuming if you want Vista Home Premium that is. If you can find anywhere offering less than the price I mentioned earlier is considered cheap already I guess because most of the places I see mark up the 125TU price to 2599 and if you bargain they will still minus back to 2509 only.

I don't have the time to write a review but I can give you a brief feedback. I've been using the CQ20-125TU for quite some time. 3 weeks to maybe a month or so and all I can say is I'm absolutely happy with my purchase till now. Its so light its just like carrying a textbook in a backpack. Performance wise I only use my lappie for my uni work and in that respect it serves me beautifully. As for gaming I'm not sure about how this lappie performs as I have a desktop to game on however I remain unconvinced given its weak graphics card.

The biggest complaint people can have about this lappie is its 4 cell battery hence the short battery life. Just to let you know I get around 2 1/2 hours with lower brightness settings connected to a wireless connection and my external hard disk while doing some matlab/web programming together with some web surfing which in my opinion is already very good given it only has a 4 cell battery.

Note: At the moment its not possible to upgrade the battery, as from what I gather from the HP support forums OEM batteries are not ready yet for this model.

IIANM, the CQ20-213TU has a T5800 CPU.  This should be a less powerful CPU than the P8400 in the earlier CQ20s.  It consumes more power as well.  To make up for this, I think they added a larger hard disk.  Price is the same though.

Anywhere still have CQ20 with the P8400?  Is this type of CQ20 already sold out on the market?

Try pm john_jay2 from Aone Plus Lowyat. I bought my CQ20-125TU from him but that was quite some time ago, around 1 and a half months back. Not sure if he still has stock.

or you can visit and post in his thread here: http://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopic=436243&hl=

EDIT: Wow joe_mamak you are right. They downgraded the processor and give 250GB hard disk space instead. Thank god I bought my CQ20-125TU early shortly after launch. I'd take a better processor over a bigger hard disk any day. I don't think you can get the CQ20-125TU already seeing as they sort of replaced it with the 213TU unless some stores are still having some old stocks. They have even replaced the 125TU and the 126TU on the website with 213TU and 214TU.

Btw if you are still looking at this model I suggest you go for others. I mean even with the energy saving P8400 processor the most you can get is 2 and 1/2 hours +/- max on low brightness settings and on max brightness is around 1 and 1/2 hours max. I'd dread to know how long this 4 cell battery can last on a power hungry processor unless you don't mind using the power adapter most of the time.

In addition to that the last time I checked OEM batteries weren't available so the battery can't be upgraded. Not sure whether this might probably be a sign that this option might be available any time soon though.

Thanks for your suggestion.

Yeah, I think I should forget about the CQ20 on account of the small battery capacity.  I like the weight though and the looks.  But I have to be practical.

If you really like this model maybe you can give it a wait for awhile. By doing this it might actually be a sign that more powerful OEM batteries might be available soon for upgrade. I for one will be keeping my eyes peeled for this option hehe.
