Anyone using a CQ45-107AU?
If yes, could you run a benchmark on the eSata port and post the results here?

I changed my WD 250GB HD in my CQ45-107TX to ST 320GB so I thought I might as well show the performance differences in case someone is interested. Using VHP 32bit and Intel iaStor.sys driver 8.5, not the MS AHCI driver 1.0. Temperatures were measured using an external sensor.
The Segate ran up to 9.5C above ambient from running HDTune 7 to 8 times. The Western Digital ran up to just 11.8C above ambient running HDTune 7 to 8 times. Note, the HD internal sensors read about 3 to 4 degrees higher than the external sensor I used. So not much difference in the temps and you probably wouldn't notice much difference in performance most of the time. I was hoping to get the ST 7200.3 320GB but it cost over three times the price of the 5400.5 This post has been edited by Zibel: Oct 24 2008, 01:29 AM |

QUOTE(trustgtr @ Oct 23 2008, 01:39 AM) Hello guys!! i am a newbie with compaq's and just purchase a cq20 125 tu..I have always been a Toshiba fan and been using this brand many years..recently while out looking for a replacement I came across the new range of compaq's cq series..i must say that compaq has really made some improvement on the quality of their products..I was impressed with the specs on the cq20 and the shop that I went to had only a display..so I went to Low lat and PJ digi mall and was suprised that none of them had stock, one of the shop at LY told me that compaq is downgradding the cq20 to a t5800..so I had not choice but to purchase the display unit at cineleisure mall..anyways, I'm very happy with my new purchase plus it doesn't run as hot as my Tosh..only the cooling fan and disc drive sounds a little louder compared..finishing seems to be quite good, one way to get finger prints from sticking on the shiny casing is that i use a little auto wax and it seem quite fingerprint proof and keeps it shiny and smooth.. bought mine at MVM, they got stock when i was there. saw at low yat today... they're selling the CQ20 213TU....and the spec show 2.0Ghz processor.overall i'm satisfied with my CQ20 and have all the driver installed..... currently installed with Vista Ultimate 32bit |

IIANM, the CQ20-213TU has a T5800 CPU. This should be a less powerful CPU than the P8400 in the earlier CQ20s. It consumes more power as well. To make up for this, I think they added a larger hard disk. Price is the same though. overall i'm satisfied with my CQ20 and have all the driver installed..... currently installed with Vista Ultimate 32bit Anywhere still have CQ20 with the P8400? Is this type of CQ20 already sold out on the market? |

Regardless brand, that's ~2.4kg. I only not satisfied on the heat generated on left palm rest area + gloosy easily-get-scratch front panel. Vista is excellent la... why dont give a try? equipped with 4gb RAM, run everything smoothly. Visual effect is awesome too! anyway, did you remove the red ads sticker on the left palm rest area? I bought my CQ20-125TU from him but that was quite some time ago, around 1 and a half months back. Not sure if he still has stock.Anywhere still have CQ20 with the P8400? Is this type of CQ20 already sold out on the market? or you can visit and post in his thread here: http://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopic=436243&hl= EDIT: Wow joe_mamak you are right. They downgraded the processor and give 250GB hard disk space instead. Thank god I bought my CQ20-125TU early shortly after launch. I'd take a better processor over a bigger hard disk any day. I don't think you can get the CQ20-125TU already seeing as they sort of replaced it with the 213TU unless some stores are still having some old stocks. They have even replaced the 125TU and the 126TU on the website with 213TU and 214TU. Btw if you are still looking at this model I suggest you go for others. I mean even with the energy saving P8400 processor the most you can get is 2 and 1/2 hours +/- max on low brightness settings and on max brightness is around 1 and 1/2 hours max. I'd dread to know how long this 4 cell battery can last on a power hungry processor unless you don't mind using the power adapter most of the time. In addition to that the last time I checked OEM batteries weren't available so the battery can't be upgraded. Not sure whether this might probably be a sign that this option might be available any time soon though. This post has been edited by sigheart: Oct 26 2008, 08:24 AM |

i believe the short battery life is due to the 2.20Ah if the battery.. pretty low if compared to others

I like the weight though and the looks. But I have to be practical. |

normally when u boot from a winxp disc u will at least go to the blue setup screen right? in my case, after the "press any key to boot from cd", the screen went blank for 5 mins then bsod.
but when i tried installin vista everything was fine.. the laptop came with freedos initially. nth inside. |
