yup I have the 2G iphone and it is pwn already and currently using bosspreff and winterboard. So from what I read then after the upgrade phone stay unlock but not jailbreak, so no bosspreff and winterboard kind of 3rd party software.

OK looks like I will be upgrading soon.

I have an Iphone 2G now running 2.0.1 firmware pwn already, I have bosspref and winterboard install which I know would not be able to run once I upgrade to firmware 2.1 because it is not jailbreak yet on Windows.

So can I update tonight ?

I have upgrade to FW2.0.1 using WinPwn using Vista. So if I update to firmware 2.1 stock via iTunes it should remail unlocked but not JB and all third party application gone.

Is this correct ? because some say it will lock the phone so I am confuse.

Has anyone tried it, I am donwloading and it seems as long as your phone was winpwn before you can use itune to shift restore with this custom 2.1 image for 2G phone. The link for 3G custome 2.1 is this

Bad News: It’s still not out and you have to continue waiting. That kind of sucks. I wish there was something I could do for you guys. Oh wait there is something I can do. As long as your iPhone or iPhone 3G has been Pwned previously all you need to do is restore a custom 2.1 firmware via iTunes 8. Here are two custom 2.1 firmware files made via PwnageTool 2.1 with default settings:

He he.... I am replying my own post.

Yup I downloaded the 2G custom restore and proceed to shift restore from itune 8.0. I now have Iphone Firmware 2.1 with a Pineapple boot up LOGO.
Phone still works so it is unlock and I have cydia install so I believe it should be Jailbreak already. Will proceed to install OpenSSH.
