i think the main purpose of modifying their proton cars isnt to outrun an Evo.
Thats a Hobby to some of the people of malaysia to play with cars.
Bcos the budget is limited, they play local and upgrade to an better version of it.
Its the same to some of the 370z owners or Caldina owners. Some of them upgraded the engine + exterior.
Why they mod most wira to evo3...the best explaination is Wira share the same platform from the earlier evos. And Mivec produce so much with such low capacity yet low in price.
when people talk about modifying engines, they need to look at the engine space, is it replaceable with another engine without any modify on the chassis.
i think most do know that our Tengku Djan have a Rear wheel drive waja. under the hood running a Nissan engine.
main purpose is make a Drift machine.
Outrun a police car wasnt a trend in malaysia..even u run..how far can u run?
even my fren drove 220km/hr using his camry...the police will just block all exit...
police no need outrun u in order to arrest u. and u get to sleep 1 night in balai..

and, everyone always forget... big/powerful engine doesnt mean u're god... without skill u are nthg..
car with extra horsepower isnt wat u can expected. try drive 1 then u know the diff.
Some of them mod their car is for the sake of better efficiency of fuel (in compare of Weight to bhp to torque)
of cos if u make big exhaust..there goes ur fuel.
most nissan a31 will mod their engine to RB25DET above.
because the bloody RB20E from the 1st batch provide only 123 bhp with 2.0L engine.
weight/power ratio is way too much..and the auto tranny sux.
this is the purpose of some of the car enthusiast to mod their cars.
if u talking about is it shameful to modify the outlook of an proton car into Evos??
