QUOTE(minghao @ Nov 7 2008, 12:50 PM) More than enough, even my 4850 running on an Extreme Power 500W. i'm on Gigabyte HD4850. i've completed Crysis:Warhead yesterday but during the course of the game, i have restarted my PC numerous times due to the screen freeze midway of the game. i've tried letting the PC cool down off for around 2-3 hours before gaming again but it still happens. even set fan speed to 95% with CCC & the temp of the 4850 dropped to around 60-65 celcius (while gaming it's around 78-79 celcius max). is there a problem with my 4850? played Crysis on 1680X1050 @ Enthusiast settings, AA 4X & VSYNC on.Added on November 7, 2008, 12:51 pmWhat 4850 u using? From which brand d? QUOTE(ben3003 @ Nov 7 2008, 01:15 PM) lol enthusiast setting with 4850.. Dont expect a mid range card like that can go enthusiast please. Summore at high reso. Try gamer setting and see. If it still persist, then i suspect is either driver prob or ur hardware got prob. i've tried gamer setting too but it still persist. but most of the time i'm on enthusiast. driver & CCC been upgraded to latest dy. can 4850 stand the AA @ 4x or 8x with VSYNC on while at gamer settings? anyone had the problem with Assasin's Creed when the game just started with instructions teaching you how to play & the screen freezes? is it the game or my GC? i'm on HD4850.

guys, is there a huge performance difference between HD4870 512MB & 1GB? their price difference is around RM160.
it seems like from these reviews, only a slight FPS difference. http://www.techspot.com/article/128-call-of-duty-5-gpu-performance/ http://www.techspot.com/article/125-fallout3-performance/ http://www.techspot.com/review/123-farcry2-performance/ btw, i'm planning on gaming @ at least 1680x1050 on ultra-high settings. any opinions? |

QUOTE(tech3910 @ Nov 25 2008, 12:04 AM) 1680 * 1050 is 19" or 21" only la. 512 version is more den capable 2 handle dis resolution. 1gb version is pretty much for those who own 24" but dun wanna spend 2 much on 4870x2 or gtx280. well, it doesn't harm 2 hav more memory, but wit 4k series, i really dun recommend it unless u really need. coz those extra vram chip also generate heat. may b will end up a little bit hotter PBC compared to 512 version. QUOTE(cyew86 @ Nov 25 2008, 12:05 AM) i meant this: even Full HD 22" max resolution is 1680x1050 right? or higher than that? 1680x1050 is the native resolution for most 22" LCDs nowadays right? anything higher? 1920x1080? btw teikwing, upgrading to HD4870 so soon? your current HD4850 is only 1 month old plus iianm? getting one for a friend's new rig. havent source enough funds to get one for myself yet. |

QUOTE(tech3910 @ Nov 25 2008, 12:24 AM) nice................ planning to get it at Startec, retail @ RM699. dat is the model i'm going 2 buy next month. mind telling me where u bought it & how much it cost? btw, here's a review of 4870 1gb. http://www.overclockersclub.com/reviews/diamond_hd4870_1gb/ the performance isn't mind blowing as u think, only 2 ~ 3 fps. remember dis, 4850 bottleneck is memory speed, dats y OC memory giv a lot performance gain. 4870 in the other hand, clock speed is bottleneck, it shud b close to 1ghz but AMD cant do dat coz too hot. dis is y OC clock speed on 4870 yield much more performance gain den OC memory. those extra 512 memory means much more bandwidth on the card. but there is not much point owning a car dat can go 300kph if highways only allows 70kph. so even i'll be using 4870 on 1920x1080 on games like Crysis, Farcry 2, Fallout 3, COD5, there won't be significant difference on 512MB with 1GB? on highest settings i would say. i don't really have much knowledge on GC's stuffs. |

QUOTE(tech3910 @ Nov 25 2008, 12:41 AM) i'll wait till pc fair only buy. alright. thanks for the useful info. last time pc fair benq girls was great............ well, the review says it all. 2 - 3 fps gain doesn't justify the 1gb memory. i'll stick wit 512 if u ask me. btw, dun worry too much bout fps, if the game is running @ 24fps constant, u wont fell the lag unless it go bellow 24................. people, dun start 2 argue bout how many fps consider no lag, coz 24 is the ans. evidence: » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « |
